In a funny way Diakite reminds me of Ale a bit akward at first but once he finds his feet could be a world beater, however Ale had over a season to adapt to the English game at a much lower level and Samba has been thrown in the deep end without a honeymoon period and in itself makes his performance more impressive, can you imagine those two playing together, got me salavating.

Taiwo I have said before that I think he is better the Traore by a country mile and if he keeps upping his performances he will become a legend and Traore will have to play second fiddle and be used for his pace when needed and as someone said it is a pleasure to watch a player with a smile on his face.

    The future could be bright?

I loved the interchange between Taraabt and Taiwo down the left all afternoon- the former marking sagna, with the latter marking walcott. I think i remember Taiwo being beaten for pace only once during the match, and that was due to a slip. Whatever you think of Walcott as a player, he's definitely quick, so the level of ease taiwo showed in containing him was some feat.
More than all this, Taye showed a brilliant reaction at the end of the match. He punched the air and applauded the crowd more vigorously than any player out there.
It's testament to the spirit in the camp that one of the "new boys" clearly considers himself so thoroughly a ranger.
We're all on a high now and don't really want to think about the championship... But i'd certainly hope that taiwo/diakite would be two of the players most likely to remain with us if we ended up there.

Have a look at some of the clips of Taiwo playing for Marseilles on YouTube. His relationship with the fans was brilliant, constantly charging over to them during and after games, off his head. If he scores at home could be the start of a special bond...
Unfortunately, if these two keep on playing like yesterday, it may be that we won't keep them if we go down. Not sure of the ins and outs, think we have first option when their loans end - ie we can bid first. Hopefully if we stay up they will want to stay, but we may not be able to sensibly compete if the big boys come in with silly money - Spurs allegedly interested in Taiwo. And Diakite would strengthen Arsenal immeasurably, hope Wenger doesn't get any ideas.....

Didn't he get in trouble for singing with them? (Marseille fans)

Think your right, some anti PSG stuff that was also unfortunately a bit homophobic, but I may not have remembered this fully...

Well said, I absolutely agree. These two are worth their own thread, both really coming good. I hope and pray we keep them.

It also seems to me that the African lads are creating some excellent team spirit!!

Anyone got any idea of the fees involved if we were to sign them? Sadly, if we end up in the Championship, I'm pretty sure that they'd be on their way, just due to the cost.

But if they keep playing as they did yesterday, along with everyone else, then I can't see the Championship being much of a worry....

There is no doubt that these two played their best games to date. But I do think everyone for once played their part. Glad to see that Joey Barton did as well. Glad also to see that we as supporters learned the lesson as well that booing your own never does any good. Nor does leaving the stadium in disgust when things are going badly.

Don't quite feel born again just yet. But am getting there slowly.

sort of did do some good though - he got booed off, didnt start the next game and undoubtedly played his best game for us the game after.

but i agree that we should generally not be booing any of our players.
