I fancied Helmet for this race, so was a little disappointed to see he finished well down the field - having just watched the race he dropped like a stone with about a furlong to go. Anyone know if there was a problem or if he's just a dramatic non-stayer?

    Cheers

Helmet is named after his owner.

A question for him per chance.

They ought to have booked Jamie Spencer and made it Team Helmet.

Both are badly over hyped, especially Helmet. They will go better than we saw though, but I wouldn't be backing either of them, not unless you got cricket score odds.

He looked pretty good as a 2yo, but he seems to have gone off the boil. His last few runs here were not that flash, even when winning. If they can find a way to open him up again, then he's still a chance in the UK. But at best he looks the third best hope.

The form of the 2011 Breeders' Cup Juvenile is working out very well. Of the 12 runners, 7 have come out and won at Group level since and 3 have placed:

Winner BC Juv - HANSEN - won G3 Gotham Stakes
2nd BC Juv - UNION RAGS - won G2 Fountain of Youth
3rd BC Juv - CREATIVE CAUSE - won G2 San Felipe Stakes
    4th BC Juv - DULLAHAN - 2nd G3 Palm Beach Stakes
5th BC Juv - TAKE CHARGE INDY - won G1 Florida Derby
6th BC Juv - CRUSADE - unraced since BC Juv
7th BC Juv - FORT LOUDON - unplaced in 3 starts since BC Juv
    8th BC Juv - OPTIMIZER - 2nd G2 Rebel Stakes
    9th BC Juv - SPEIGHTSCITY - 2nd G3 Withers Stakes
10th BC Juv - DRILL - won G2 San Vincente Stakes
11th BC Juv - ALPHA - won G3 Withers Stakes
12th BC Juv - DADDY LONG LEGS - won G2 UAE Derby

    An impressive record!

    interesting stats PN.

I notice as well that RED DUKE came 5th on Saturday and he beat DADDY LONG LEGS at Doncaster in September, so it looks like DLL is definitely improving.
However TRUMPET MAJOR beat both of these horses that day and all three are still entered for the Guineas.

does anyone think any of these could be classic contenders?
