Let the foul mouthed useless waste of space rot. His actions yesterday towards fans in the Fratton End (and his "performance", if you can call it that) was completely and utterly disgusting, and is an embarresment to our club - "YOU'RE NOT FIT TO WEAR THE SHIRT!"

    Why, what did he do?

And he's been good for me on Fifa.

He had an awful game - selfish play, poor finishing, completely useless. After attempting a frankly selfish shot from a stupid angle, he stuck his fingers up to fans in the Fratton End, calling them ****ers and telling them to **** off.

You forgot to mention the part where his genuine mistake, a poor touch to kick the ball out of play, was rewarded with the fans jibing him and calling all sort of names. He wasn't brilliant yesterday, but didn't he set up our goal? He also won a few headers as well, is it his fault that nobody bothered to attempt to get to his knock downs? Although sticking his finger up at the fans wasn't the brightest thing to do, I really can't blame him. If we as a fan base now boo our own players for their mistakes, where were the boo's for Pearce's back pass? I feel Varney has been singled out since returning from injury by the fans, and I feel that is more disgusting then anything Varney did yesterday. Normally I agree with what you say Jake, but feel this time around your letting your frustration and emotions from yesterday spill into your thoughts about the Varney incident.

I see. Never good to stick fingers up at your own fans (or the opposition fans for that matter, but neither's good). That is pretty disgraceful. From your original post, the Fratton End chanted you're not fit to wear the shirt at him then, I'm guessing?

I see your point, Nugent but at the end of the day the fans are paying to watch Portsmouth and they have a right to vent if they feel the team are playing awfully and not trying. Personally I wouldn't boo, but I might shout "FFS Varney" or something on those lines. Even after our financial problems he's probably on at least a couple of thousand a week, so he should be able to take a bit of frustration and not stick his fingers up at the fans. Though I wasn't at the game so I can't really say whether the venting was justified or not.

It's completely understandable. I don't think I've ever seen someone score an easier hat-trick then that Austin as well. It particularly hurts as we were better then Burnley in the first half, completely dominant.

I only just realised it finished 5-1. Last I saw it, it was 3-1 so presumed it finished at that. While I wasn't there, to lose that badly it must have been an awful performance. Pretty shocking.

It was a poor second half performance, Lapras.

We weren't too bad in the first half though - it all went "Pete Tong" after half time.

They got caught, trying to chase an equaliser and gave up, more or less, after the third went in.

On one level, the paying fans are absolutely entitled to vent their frustration at a group of men earning fantastic money, and performing poorly. On the other hand, if they choose to boo or sing disparaging songs about their own team, then they should not be surprised when said team capitulates and gives up, particularly in a situation where goal difference means very little. I have always seen booing your own lads as very self-indulgent, and I don't think that you can afford that right now.

No time to look back when you're down the bottom. Draw a blue line and worry about the next game (or the one after if you prefer).

Jakey, if it's any consolation I've never rated him and I've made that plain in past posts. He's wasteful, does not understand the offside rule and rarely makes an effort to chase a lost cause- unlike his new strike partner. AND to top it all, he insists on wearing the brightest boots on the pitch- you've got to be good to get away with boots like that (it's a shame nobody told him or Halford that!) Dopey twat.
