The only other option is to keep him around for certain games and also use him as an impact sub. If he'd came through our academy then that would be fine, doesn't seem realistic to do with our record signing though. The other problem is that we can't do a Robbie Keane / Veron type deal and make most of our money back on a bad signing. What's the most we could get for Carroll? £10m? Then if we did sell him he'd go to another club and do very well. We've created an absolute mess with his signing, it's understandable that we were desperate to sign someone after Torres left. If only we had predicted how well Suarez would've settled we could have waited to the summer and bought someone who would work better alongside Suarez.
Brilliant handling of the ball which prevented us a goal and a nice little kick on Reina too. Outstanding... Yeh right!
Carroll has done that all season. He never seems bothered to get in the box, a really poor trait for a CF.
Really?,We know this season is **** by our standards but **** by your standards is on a completely different level. No trophies in 50+ yrs. Enjoy your moment of glory lad.
Well, it's not me then! I decided not to watch this, and see if we played any better....... ho hum! When you see press articles like the one by Kuyt saying that they intended to answer their critics, and then they put this performance is, I can only assume their answer is, "Yes we are rubbish" I do wish players would not roll out all the old clichés when they are interviewed, it makes you want to when it goes wrong.... It's quieter here than I expected, must be apathy setting in
I'm not sure about that. He's too limited as a footballer. the reason he succeeded at the toon was because the team was built around him, with people always willing to float a ball into the box. Considering most teams keep the ball on the floor now, i think he'll struggle wherever he goes.
Agreed, he was great and Suarez was poor. Your defence looked poor on paper but the only one who looked dodgy out there was Guttierez, who was playing out of position. Bellamy was a bit off the pace in first half but an in form Bellamy could've taken advantage of your weak left side. I'm sure Taylor will come in there for the run-in though which should help your defence a lot.
You think Villa at home is a hard game??? All games are hard but if I had to hand pick a game right now it would be that
Newcastle have bought as many players as us this season. It's not about one team 'building' and the other 'buying', it's just that they've bought well and we haven't.
Think you might be getting mixed up with Simpson, which it showed it hit his upper arm on the line from a yard. Nowhere near enough time to get his arm out of the way, that's not me being bias either as I criticise and praise as I see it, regardless of who I support.
The ball bounced first, and it clearly showed he motioned towards it - perhaps trying to shoulder it away, who knows? But a definite handball nonetheless. That aside, I can hardly complain about the result. Newcastle did all they needed to do. Wouldn't mind you getting 4th ahead of Spurs and Chelsea.
Well considering our home form has been shocking this season, and even though Villa haven't been as good this season they can always be tough opposition to any side. they're a much better side than QPR and Wigan who we've both lost to this season.
