Obviously a poor display by the lads and they will be as disapointed as us but if any of us thought that we would go till the end of the season dropping no points then it shows unbelievable arrogance. This league is tough and we were on a good run until today and hopefully we will be able to fire the bus/boat/plane back up and get going to the promise land starting with a win against those fishy bastards down the road. Let's use nige's philosophy of not getting too high or too low after games and keep grounded until we get there which we will!!! Stay positive. UTS p.s great support today from the fans sang OWTS for a good 15 mins and when we were 3-0 down didn't pack and go so well done to all who made the trip.
Imagine if the posters on here had gone today - we all would have left after half an hour and booed our own players. Our fans at the game were the one positive from a day to forget. Also for those moaning about fans leaving early, did you see the Blackpool lot?? The ground was practically empty when the full time whistle went, terrible support
At last! A rational poster. We are still top. We are still the new Southampton. We need to match WHAM for 3.5 matches and then we are going up!!!! A blip. It's over. Now COYR!!!!
I don't think it is about being loyal, it is just simply accepting that we cannot alter the past and we are still top of the league (I would rather lose today and be top than lose and drop out of the autos!). Three more wins should see us up, what more can you ask for . Incidentally teams in previous years have lost heavily and have been promoted; it is how you react to disappointment that is important.
Judging by some of the comments on here the suicide rate would've gone up 70% if they went!! Some people need to get a grip it's ****ing embarrassing all the teams in the league would swap positions with us so I've no idea what they're complaining about.
That was arguably our toughest remaining game, and it wasn`t a good day for us - but hey, WHU got beaten also. Every team in this league is capable of beating everyone else. Now lets get after it again next week, I can`t wait - come on you sinners !
If we go up, then I really fear for those people next season. I mean, if they can't even take a one-off defeat, then what on earth are they going to be like when we lose a regular basis. Get four points over the Easter weekend, or even the full six, and today will all be forgotten. And that's exactly the point. It's one game, which can easily be put behind us. It's not like we've just lost our 5th game in row, and forgetting it in a hurry will be difficult.
Great game! saints will still probably go up but now less teams will have seen our great players on top form and will be less interested! On a serious not yes very poor today but it happens blackpool dont half have some dangerous players. And also we had a pen saved Guly clean through narrowly missed Jos missed a header from about 6 yards and Lallana missed well inside the box. Also there penatly wasnt a pen and there goal from the corner wasnt a corner so even though we were rubbish on another day it could have been alot closer. Adkins will have the players fired up and ready to make amends against the pennyless lot down the M27!! COYRs
This loss is not the defining part of our season...we are good enough to remain in top two all season...so no need to suddenly despair of us winning enough games before the end of the season. We looked unbeatable for a few games at the beginning of the season, but after that wins were harder to get but we got them. Sure we will get auto as West Ham will lose points making it easier for us, but it's up to us to prove we are worthy Champions.
Our real test will be the local Derby which Pompey have nothing to lose and then the mighty Reading. Then I think we can talk about promotion. Still a way to go yet. But look at the fans yesterday signing even though we were 3 0 down. That shows loyalty and how proud the fans are even after a defeat.
Remember Reading have to play the Mighty Southampton at St Mary's...one loss doesn't mean we will roll over. WHU will be hoping that the team top will win, but they may be virtually out of it by then.
Poor performance but those two early misses could have and maybe should have been taken. Then we would probably all be singing with joy instead of feeling a tad disappointed. Still in our hands and after we give that lot down the road a pasting we will be closer still to the promised land.
Watched the game on tv but could see the support was amazing from our boys! Bad day at the office but it happens now and again! Get over it and move on! Get rickie back and get winning! Onwards and upwards!
this team responds to defeat like no other saints team I've seen in my years of supporting them, can't help but trust them
Exactly. They always bounce back, one last boot up the arse will see us over the line. Blackpool was it.
