Morgan had to jump to block it and would have been difficult with reaction times, nothing on gulys howler i'm afraid.
I hope Nigel is giving them hell in the dressing room, hell while they are warming down, hell when they are on the bus home, I hope he rings each of them at home tonight and gives them hell, I hope he kicks them all round Marchwood next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so that they are so mad with him that they are afraid not to give their all when we play the team from the east next Saturday.
This is becoming tiring now, your unjustified hatred towards a very good player! He was isolated today, and only Guly made an attempt to link up play between the midfield and attack. He was constantly making runs, and the linesman did not help his causes at all! Granted, his penalty was poor, but the rest of the team gave him no support, so your critisism is unjust in this case!
No, he's a player who needs to play in the width of the penalty area. that is his game. You just haven't given him a chance yet. I'll agree that a pre-season with NIgel will do him good, but i used to play that type of role as a forward. He looks to come alive with the bits in the box. You could rightly say that I am a fat version of anyone and a pre-season with Nige would probably do me no good at all... it could possibly kill me!
I have no doubt he will be amazing next season I think the point I am trying to make as I have been thinking while reading back all my slatings is that Billy Sharp is not a player we can rely on with any great confidence this season.
with the 9 players behind him playing well and supplying him, I think we can. Let's just hope I'm right as we'll all be happy then
Yes, but you've made that point enough times now. Give it a rest. That's why and others have started to put in the same category as the Guly-haters and Sharpshooter (our regular Martin hater) - constantly making negative posts directed at one particular player. Ordinarily, i think you're a good contributor to this form. But in all honestly, this Sharp bashing is moving me very, very close to putting you on my ignore list. And that's a shame.
Ok I will not make a thread constantly about one player as I do agree it seems I have it in for the poor guy which I don't. Every player has to question their own performances today except for maybe the odd couple of players. Thank you for your comment regarding my general input into this forum though I am not trying to upset anybody and wish to be known as a good contributer to a excellent forum
This thread is going to have to be closed if we can't get away from the abuse. Bad day at the office today and an ill-judged thread, let's all move on.
Think we all need to calm down a bit. It was a bad day at the office for everyone & Sharp was not the only player below par. We are STILL in the driving seat at the top of the table & I would expect a massive response from the players when we meet the skates next Saturday.
Bit harsh Godders - Evatt had a free header after he lost his marker (Jos). Morgan was on the line and had no chance.
He/she can justify it because that is the same conclusion that he/she draws every week that it is Guly's fault. I thought he did ok second half when the ball was at his feet but there is no pleasing some people.
Oh a idiot really? Grow up and explain yourself as to why you don't agree. Are you 12 and think name calling is big?
For me, Sharp looks like he doesn't quite have the confidence yet. I don't know if he was the pre-game allocated pen taker, but if not, he probably wanted to get back on the scoresheet and show that he can do the duty when Rickie isn't playing. Tough when you know Rickie hasn't missed a pen for us, and consequently Saints haven't failed to score a pen all season (correct me if I'm wrong on that point, but can't remember one). All the more reason for him not taking the pen, but then again, all the more reason to take it. I'm thinking more medium-term - if we do go up this season, regardless of today, do you think he's Premiership material - or likely to be a squad player for us? Remember he is still not going to be himself, after moving down, and all the tough times he's been through.
