Ya ****in balloon. You can't lump Clint in with Arnie and Stallone.

Your opinions are henceforth null and void.

They've probably never even heard of Orson Welles.

Gimmicks and special effects - that's all the younger ones are interested in - banal mundane tripe with no plot.

No wonder this country is going to the dogs.

Talking of movies I watched that Avatar this week, only coz it was on the tele

What a load of rubbish, considering the hype

It was basically a religious movie.

I'll add myself to that list if my learned friends ER and Gambol have no objections. Would much rather watch some of the 40s, 50s and 60s films (especially the 60s kitchen sink ones) than 95% of the ****e produced today <ok>

I enjoyed Avatar, went to see it on the feck off big Imax screen in 3-D. The plot and the acting are a bit wooden but the visuals are stunning on such a big screen.

Also saw John Carter at the Imax. Not really surprised that it is being touted as Disney's biggest flop because it wasn't very good. The main actor was poor, some of the special effects were ok but not enough to save the film. I wouldn't even recommend waiting to see this on DVD.

I must be a sucker for all the 3-D stuff because I'm off to see Wrath of the Titans soon. Meant to be 100% better than the re-make of Clash of the Titans which I have to agree was a bit of a sktinker.

As a film buff myself I have to say Avatar was incredible in 3D, as was Beowulf at the IMax a few years back.

It is true though, most of the best movies are old and or foreign. Seven Samurai is a masterclass in cinema as is most of Akira Kurosarwa's work. Try and find Throne Of Blood if you can, MacBeth in feudal Japan, magnificent.

Best film i've seen in the last few years apart from Inglorious Basterds is Old Boy. a Korean movie. Stunning.
