According to reports 5 players were sent off in there changing rooms for fighting after the game. Apparently Andrew Davies ran and punched a guy and a brawl followed. How pissed must the managers of the teams be knowing there players are now banned for such a stupid thing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17441660
I noticed that 7 crawley players were booked during the game which would suggest they played aggressively. Obviously you can't condone what was done, but the Crawley boss almost shrugs his shoulders over the incident.
Crawley have a reputation for this sort of behaviour. They start winding up the oppo as soon as the coach door hisses. The new crazy gang? It seems to have backfired this time, true they won the match, but 5 sent off afterwards! The league has to investigate what they've been up to.
Oops. I played in a Hampshire Senior Cup game at Basingstoke once that was abandoned due to us having 4 sent off and one off injured. I was playing for Havant at the time.
Good to see Andrew Davies' career has taken off since leaving us for Stoke - he's essentially spent the last 3 years being loaned out to various clubs in the football league and only made a handful of appearances for each. Pretty **** deal for all involved: Stoke buy a player they've only ever used twice, Davies' career has gone alarmingly downhill and we were lumbered with Anthony Pulis
I come from Sussex and the two clubs are not promoting a very good image of, "Good old Sussex by the sea".
Impressive, but not as impressive as....
What do you expect from a team managed by Evans? Was the same when he managed Boston. Football was a safer place while he served his time for tax irregularities. Loads of suspensions and bans as manager there and was playing hardball with the FA when they were investigating Boston player's contracts having false salary details on them. I was pretty surprised he was alowed to return to football in any shape or form but there you go. Football League and their 'fit & proper person' rules etc. Although was a derby game it went way further than that when the Imps met Boston. I remember going to York St once for a boxing day game against the Imps and it was very very scary. Not a ground I would go to again. Absolutely impossible to police the way it is situated with alleys all over the place. Saying that it was an away game and the Lincoln fans 'bossed' the town centre. Not in a violent way but they had all the pubs dominated for sing songs. For once the Imps fans were pretty well behaved: Steve Evans wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Evans_(footballer_born_1962)
yep, as pompeymeowth has highlighted they've had a rep for being a dirty team for a while, I wouldn't be surprised if Evans has gone out and purposefully assembled a team of players who will behave like this? Why sign Leon Clarke, the aggy **** who had a pop at his last manager? Many, even at league 2 level, would steer clear. Evans comments after the game wrapped it up "My players did what I expect them to do, stand up for each other". Dirty club, wouldn't mind seeing them getting a points deduction
Not really relevant, they are only yellows. If they were over-stepping the mark during the game there would have been reds . 3 of the players sent off were Bradford players. 2 Crawley players. The league needs to investigate both teams..
