Manchester United fans angry over ticket allocation for potential title decider at Sunderland Sunderland have been warned that the ânaiveâ decision to offer Manchester United only 1,700 tickets for a potential title decider at the Stadium of Light on the final day of the season will lead to thousands of travelling supporters buying home tickets on the black market. Senior figures at Old Trafford are to seek urgent clarification from Sunderland after being âdisappointedâ by the reduced allocation for final game of the campaign at which United could receive the Premier League trophy if they require a positive result to win the title. Under Premier League regulations, visiting clubs are entitled to a minimum of 3,000 tickets for grounds with a capacity of more than 30,000, but because of ignored warnings over persistent standing and the disruptive behaviour of United fans in recent seasons, Sunderlandâs Safety Advisory Group yesterday imposed a 1,700 allocation on the Old Trafford club for the third successive year. The decision is subject to ratification by the Premier League, which it is expected to provide. However, with United fans overcoming a similar ticket restriction to infiltrate home sections at the Stadium of Light in May 2010, supportersâ groups claim that measures aimed at preventing a repeat will fail. Mark Longden, spokesman for the Independent Manchester United Supportersâ Association, said: âThis really is a nonsense decision that will lead to United fans buying tickets in the home sections, which many would argue is a greater safety issue. âIf there is a chance of United winning the league at Sunderland, then thousands will travel without tickets . When Sunderland cut our allocation two years ago, United fans bought tickets for the home sections and were asked questions at the turnstiles as basic as âwhere did Sunderland play before the Stadium of Light?â in an effort to identify away supporters. Itâs just naive to think that visiting fans wonât do the same again ................................................................................ Maybe asking for trouble here mind...
What teams don't realise is that it's not SAFC that cut the allocation but a recommendation from the police as their fans DON'T SIT DOWN (bunch of ****ing idiots) - this then costs them the allocation of tickets - sit down you bunch of morons - it is for health and safety reasons that you are asked to do this - just wait until one of the standing fans falls over and hurts themself and then tries to sue the club!
anyone who is not a home fan in the home fan's end should be ejected from the ground and put on a train back to Manchester
That'd be an even better punishment because half of them will probably have never been to Manchester in their lives!
God I am so glad I dont have to deal with UK H&S anymore, they'll be forcing adults crossing the road to link up and hold hands soon....
I agree dan but with the compensation culture nowadays they have to be vigilant - as I said it's only a matter of time until a Man Utd fan falls over because they were standing at an away ground then tries to sue the club they are standing at
Im praying that it goes to the last day and Utd win it. My mate has only gone and booked his kids christening on May 13th (typical Maggie) he's been informed of through clash. Does anyone know if its been moved to 4pm?
They won't be able to get tickets as the game will be rescheduled and the home team will be recieve a heroes welcome as they parade the trophy infront of a full house. Seriously though, I agree that there are rules in place and these should be followed. Whether you agree with the current rules or not, isn't an excuse to follow or disobey them depending on your viewpoint. Such matters should follow the right channels. Instead of blaming anyone else, they need to realise they need to play ball, so to speak. Thing is though if they do choose go into the wrong end, there will probably be no repercussions and the problem will continue to exist.
On the final day of the season all matches kick off at the same time. Not sure what time it is though...
not much chance of our fans selling tickets to man utd fans when we'll be parading the f a cup that day
Seem to recall the final day games seem to all kick off at 4pm in the past as opposed to 3pm. Can't see what the fuss is about regarding possible title decider, though I'm not all things for Manure to win the title, I can see them wrapping it up before the last game, considering the run in between the two club's. Though I have to say standing instead of sitting is disrepectful to those who do choose to sit and pay to watch a game.
