    This made be laugh.

Rivalries do change over the years, only the Old Firm has survived with the same intensity and only because Scottish football has been about the same two clubs forever.
Football itself has changed, Sunday/Monday kick offs and 12.45 games especially are a struggle, years ago it was Saturday 3pm come what may and you could go down the pub for 3 hours walk to the ground, pay your 3 quid and get in, these days many tickets are debentures for hospitality or owned by season ticket holders who can't be arsed to go.
We're also on football overload, 24/7 TV coverage and games every day of the week, the anticipation isn't as high as it was 30 years ago...

Agree with all you say DL. Also think a big factor in the Sky/ PL top teams bias is the Champions League, itself an oxymoron. It should be the Champions and 3 Also Rans League.
The usual greed means instead of the REAL Champions of Europe deciding who's best, they have quadrupled the size of the competition, dragged it out over months of top rating Sky viewing, and changed the entire way all countries Leagues approach their domestic competitions.

The North London derby is still alive and kicking.. They are normally brilliant games which is always a plus and the atmosphere is always great. Went to the 5-2 this season and it was a proper derby and the outcome was very sweet.

Agree. Years ago every Saturday was like Christmas Day for most common folk like you and I. There was a time even in the 90s when football coverage wasn't that great and it was the only thing you could look forward to.

Before we got top 6 on a regular basis, I remember only being able to see Chelsea on Sky about once a month if that, these days it's once a week minimum.

The TV thing is also a joke, means you don't have to go to the matches so more armchair fans. Take this week for example

    Saturday

    Chelsea vs Spurs 12:45
    Stoke vs Man City 17:30

    Sunday

    WBA vs Newcastle 16:00

    Monday

    Man Utd vs Fulham 20:00

    Tuesday
    [/U][/B]

    Benfica vs Chelsea 19:45
    Sunderland vs Everton 19:45
    Spurs vs Bolton 19:45

    ALL TELEVISED <doh>

    Wednesday

    AC Milan vs Barcelona

    Thursday

    Schalke 04 vs Athletic Bilbao

    Friday

    Doncaster vs Birmingham

So everyday there is a football match on. Even when Sky First started out you got at the very most a match on Sunday and then Friday/Monday Night Football. Matches being televised on Saturday's was unheard of unless it was a FA Cup Semi Final
That's only because Spurs and Arsenal are evenly matched. 10 years ago no Arsenal fan would have said Spurs were there biggest rivals. 99% would have said United

I love football banter, but probably cos I am now an ol git it is spoilt by TV coverage and the net which has bred false rivalries and keyboard warriors .... I dont hate any clubs fans...but love taking the piss outta them...but being a spur I rarely got the chance until recently so am enjoying making hay while the sun lasts!

I agree with this. What we get now is over priced, watered down football. And as for hating fans? You're right.
Banter's one thing but hatred is ridiculous.
