The Official Not606 Match Thread: Liverpool Vs Wigan Athletic. (Premier League)

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Chris., Mar 22, 2012.

  1. Fair do's <ok>

Victor Moses seems to be their second danger man but lacks the goals so I agree with Di Santo if the Rod is out.

Ive given up smoking this week, and dont think I can handle Liverpool not doing a job on this one...........Wednesday night I nearly caved and ended up eating 5 doughnuts in quick succession to top myself smoking........Please please please do a heavy job on Wigan and score lots of goals........Then please keep your anity and dont decide to concede one more than we have scored in the final ten minutes...

He's their joint top scorer this season...

24 games. 4 goals. In all competitions.

Not the best scoring rate for a striker that.

Especially when 3 of them were deflected strikes and the other was an open goal <laugh>

Two of them against QPR, they were never going in without the deflections!

    http://www.soccerclips.net/videos/everton-0-1-wigan-di-santo

One against Everton a week after the QPR goals

    http://www.soccerclips.net/videos/sunderland-1-2-wigan-atheltic-di-santo

    Open goal Vs Sunderland

Wonder when he last scored a proper goal without having an open goal or a deflection!?

Didn't see the QPR game, and I'm glad I didn't! Had the scores up on my phone and was so pissed off when we managed to concede 3 goals within 13 minutes ( Which btw really pissed me off for the night - And I was on holiday! :L ). Wigan is a must win for us, if we're going to concentrate on the FA cup then we can at least still to try and win the PL games.

Shaun Derry: 0 goals in 5 years until he played us. Anyone is a danger against Liverpool.

Rumours are Adam MAY be out for the season, if thats true Shelvey will defo get more game time, the only issue with is perhaps it may mean Adm issnt sold at the end of the season , cos he aint even squad player class in my book

Rumour is also Kelly will be fit, glad cos dont think Flanno is technically good enough and he has no pace and gives me the jitters.I expect Coates may get the nod ahead of Carra

Something tells me Sterling STILL wont be involved, best for him may be the bench.Kenny tends to pick HIS signings , not the form players or the best ones for the job

I suspect the 11 may be something like this

    Reina
    Kelly Skrtel Coates Jose
    Shelvey Stevie Jay Downing
    Carroll Suarez

Hey Chris didn't know that cross-board threads have bean temporarily disabled when did this happen.Anyway for me Saturdays game for me will be a game of two halves if you have kept a eye on how we have bean playing of late but if we can get our shots on target(hopefully)then the game will see quite a few goals from us so what Mark lawro Lawrence says about home win maybe we`l see.

Cross threads went a few weeks ago. The site owner wanted to change them about so they could be moderated by both the boards the threads end up on.

Onto the game and I did notice that Wigan seemed to have picked up some better results of late. Draws against Norwich & West Brom have helped yourselves stay in touch with the sides above you and a couple of good results would see you out of the relegation zone.

I guess it depends on what Wigan turn up. You've picked up decent results away from home (An away win at Sunderland and a good point gained at Stoke) but you've also had bad days. (A home loss to Sunderland and a defeat to relegation rivals, Q.P.R)

That should be a big boost for Wigan if he is passed fit. He's not had his best season though... Only 2 goals according to the BBC.

Has he been injured or is it a loss of form? He's a key player for you and you'll need him fit and firing to stand a better chance of getting out of the trouble at the bottom.

we really need to pick our game up, its no good just playing well in the cups or against the top teams. its been so frustrating watching us cain teams and not scoring, its like a ****ing nightmare. so its time to play well, finish well and defend propperly for 90 minutes + fergie time for the rest of the season!

    come on you reds!

I think we'll lose to be honest, Liverpool with maybe 2/3 but don't see us scoring which is so frustrating as every game our build up play is brill but no one has that final finish, it's always off target or just weak attempts at goal or the occasional ball hogger aka Moses always passes at the wrong time or just goes for goal himself even with players in better positions than himself

Next Gen 11 for 3rd place play off kicking off v Marseille at 1130am today in London

Ward, McLaughlin, Robinson, Wisdom, McGiveron, Coady, Ibe, Roddan, Morgan, Adorjan, Ngoo

NO Raheem Sterling or Suso for that matter, rumours are Sterling on the bench v Wigan
