no its not a pop at the long haired lover in liverpool directly, but now playing for england, how do you want him to do? fail badly or play a blinder and get goals. we know he's from gatesheed but now gone onto bigger and better things on the mersey, so do we wish him luck as an english forward or hope he flops around like his haie extensions. for me i want him to do well (believe it or not) and have a sucessfull england career, and keep some of capello's nancy boys out of the team. time to rebuild that back of **** that calls itself the national team

Fully agree, but as i mentioned , I won't be watching, I'll be too busy pulling my teeth out. Ha-Ha. Never really had an affinity for Liverpool but if they were on the box i'd watch them, they did play decent, attractive football. Watched them last week in the Europa and they humped the long ball up for my little pony, what a waste mate.
I can't stand the lad either, however, there is no getting away from the fact that he is a right handfull to defend against and for me, he has a long international career ahead of him. A fitter Andy Carroll would almost certainly have scored against us at the weekend and he nearly did, but for the goal line clearance! I think we all have to accept that as a footballer, he is the real deal, a very good old fashioned centre forward. As a person, he is a complete tosser!
I'm sure in the England set up there is a wealth of young talent straining at the bit to get a chance, cant see why Danny shouldn't have a shout would have scored more than Carroll if not injured, and a good clean professional, and every bit as good as Carroll if the quality crosses come in, the potential is there just needs someone better than Mr Capello Mc GOO to bring it out. Danny will get his chance one day, provided he keeps progressing the way he has this season with us. Has Danny played for the under 21's yet? I'm sure that I read recently that Ghana or some African country were trying to persuade him to play international football for them!

I'm glad manageordieal brought up Shearer, as it's a slightly similar situation. Despite the balance of my family hating Shearer, I have no issues, when it's down to 3 Lions kit, he's Northern, and that's what counts here. Carroll has no class, and I'm with Sunderpitt - he'll be exposed for his lack of skill soon. Shearer still has class – something Carroll will want to aspire to one day – when he cuts his hair and get’s his act together. That said, If he scores goals for England - who cares!
i like the idea of younger players getting picked for the national squad, but i have to agree w/ roger, players like carroll, barton, hell even tony adams back in the day, should never wear the shirt, and especially in carrolls case he should be locked up currently. Trying a newcastle player in newcastle crown court, imagine my surprise when he got a slap on the wrist.
