Good man, Phill. I agree with you and Norway (now there's a first!) in that Dobbie doesn't really 'fit' with us at the moment but as a result has been given very few opportunities.

It's very easy to use a throw away line about him being a 'Championship player' but I can't see how anyone can come to that conclusion when he's hardly played. As we've seen from the likes of Graham - and most of the rest to be honest - players need game time and nobody can say he's had much of that.

Like you say I hope he scores a bagful and keeps them up the M4 out of our League. :)

"Anyway he will keep the Bluetits out of the Prem for sure........"

Think they're coping quite admirably on their own with that aspect......

Dobbie will struggle the rest of the season at Blackpool IMO , he's to rusty & it takes him a while to get back to 100 %

Knackered I would have loved him to have been given a run of games, it was the least he deserved for his goal tally last season, not to mention Wembley, but with the politics the way they are with the team, I really can't see him getting a chance, I rate him highly and I really do hope he goes on to prove the doubters wrong! Breezy he's stepping down to the Championship to a setup at Pool he knows, he'll do well I'm sure!................

For his contibution in getting us promoted Dobbie should be made a Freeman of Swansea and made an Ambassador of the Club.

He is not getting in he first team at the moment so should be allowed to go to Blackpool - but only on loan.

I dont think its all down to team politics more to do with the fact Dobbie is a specialist, a place on the bench does't give Buck enough options IMO. If you look at the guys on bench duty they can do more than one job.

Gower- centre midfield attacking, defensive or wide
    Lita- centre forward or wide
Moore -wide, centre forward or attacking mid
Josh mc - centre midfield attacking or defensive

Dobbie i would class as only a withdrawn striker/attacking midfield as he isnt physical or fast enough to play up front on his own. This i think is the reason his chances have been limited, and as buck has pointed out the bench is equally as important as the starting 11, rodgers has more often than not got his subs right, he made mistakes but i think has learnt from them.

Dobbie and Pratley were both key players but the team has evolved to a point where they would never get games, considering Pratley was one of our main sources of goals his treatment by the chairman/club was worse than what dobbie has gone through.

Those tough choices that rodgers was talking about having to make clearly applied to Prats and Dobbie(as well as others like cotts and beatie) he just was very subtle about it!
Thinking about it now it wouldn't suprise me that with the help of Jenkins they were able to lever out Dorus and come out with the fans completly onside, the same tactic looks to have been employed with Pratley.

One thing i will say is that he has gone about progressing the squad very softly and hasn't upset the dressing room like AVB at Chelsea !!
Keeping dobbie here until he no longer needed back up was the right call, hopefully Dobbie will take his frustrations out on the opposition while securing Blackpool a play-off spot <ok>

I can't help but think that if Roberto stayed for another season or two that Dobbie would have thrived in leaps & bounds instead of being basically an outcast for 2 of the last 3 seasons .

How long does he have left on his contract? I want to wish him well for the future, but I'd like to think that if a permanent move was on the cards, we'd get something for him.

Can''t say he was frozen out last season Breezy. He was an integral part of our setup and really found a role tucked in behind the front man. As Norway points out, Dobbie plays in a very specialist position and even I have to concede he probably doesn't fit well with us right now. That said, I think he's useful if you want to change things around and try something different. Our Manager doesn't do that though does he?

Great vid. Well worth a watch again. Those Wembley memories....wow!

Never said he was aussie , this season & the one previous to last season he was unused really , that's 2 out of 3 . Obviously Buck doesn't see him as a Premier League player but does see him as a Championship one . God only knows what was going through Sousa's mind when he went out on loan to Blackpool , unused by us while both teams were in the Championship .

We had 40 league goals from 460 man games under Sousa . Dobbie had 25% of that many goals in 26 games himself under Rogers the next season . We were desperate for goals under Sousa & those goals sat on the bench & were eventually sent to Blackpool IMO

Some of us said so at the time too, Breezy.

And some of us were also told 'The Manager knows best'. <doh>

I was one of the ones that tried to get behind the manager & accept the fact that Dobbie didn't fit into his plans although I was a bit sceptical in my own thoughts aussie.

Yes he did, and now that we are clearly staying up he is surplus to requirements! The club comes first not the feelings of a football player, it sounds harsh but players have to much power in the game, they shouldn't be dictating to the clubs, these people are paid a lot of money and they have lifestyles we can only dream about. Also how much of his wages are we paying for him to go to Blackpool ? I would bet most of it.
