Just been reading Guillem Balagues weekly column on Sky Sports website and spotted this... Nice to see him recognising Timmys ever growing ability.

    PEPE REIGNS?
Hi Guillem, do you believe Pepe Reina is really the best keeper in the Premier League, my friend thinks so but I'm not sure. The same friend is also a Mallorca fan and he would like to know what you think of young players like Mbega and Tejera, also whether Mallorca will survive, Thanks, Tom Simpson

GUILLEM SAYS: I think Tim Krul is a very good goalkeeper as well. I think Reina is obviously a very complete 'keeper and I think David de Gea will become one of the best as well. Reina has everything - personality, physique and now experience as well. I'd put him up there with Krul and obviously Joe Hart too. As for Mbega and Tejera - Tejera is not a young player any more in a way. He was at Espanyol and then went to Chelsea, but he doesn't seem to have the consistency to appear in the team. He's got to make a name for himself in the next 12 months or he may be lost. It's interesting you know about Mbega because he's only 18, has played a game or so for Cameroon U21s and only four times for Mallorca B. It's very early days for him. He's big and quick and there's definitely potential.

I don't want people giving him recognition, it means other clubs are more likely to try to sign him in the summer.

    He's way too over-hyped IMO.

I hope we sell him in the summer and use the money to sign a better one for a lot less money.

I think we can get 20m if we use Andy Carroll tactics

I wouldn't call him overhyped at all, his reactions are great and his one on ones also seem decent. While his kicking could really use some work, I don't think there's a keeper in the league as good at him when it comes to claiming high crosses in the box, Shay Givens biggest weak point I seem to recall. And I know recognition will attract the big clubs, but I'd say he's already got enough interest to not mind about a bit of positive press.

This points to the fact that he probably sees Krul as the best, which is what most of us think.

I couldn't cope with us having a **** keeper now after years of having fantastic ones.

Tim Krul will not leave. He doesn't want to, and he loves everything about Newcastle, not just the football side of things.

I think krul's in with a shout for young player of the year when you consider how consistently he's played over the whole season, be nice for another young black & white to be honoured after jenas & bellamy. Let's just hope he stays longer than those two did though.

Jenas and Bellamy were never committed the way Tim is.

I think he'll stay as long as he's welcome.

It would be nice to think he'll be here for a good while yet, all the best teams have a top keeper to rely on as the last line of defence.

In his 'line of duty', he's saved us many times.

Great he is getting this kind of credit. I'd probably slip Reina just ahead of him, and Joe Hart is certainly better at present. Krul should be using Hart as his example of how to progress your game. Hart has worked hard on his weak spots and is top notch now. One of the best in world football for me. Krul has some pretty obvious weak spots but they are all very trainable. If you are weak mentally (like David James), that is very diffcult to eradicate. Kruls kicking is poor but I've seen plenty of keepers work hard and get better in this regard. I'm sure if Tim was to get in touch with his idol Van Der Saar he could help him. He is after all the best kicker of a ball in goalkeeping history for me.
