Tashy, i know its been said but i really think you are confusing selling out and evolution

The Beatles changed direction at their peak, did they sell out?

If my favourite band kept coming out with the same stuff all the time, i think i'd get really bored
and that's what bands don't want their audience to do

bands have to find a happy medium of, music they want to write and play, and something fresh that the audience will like.

Bands at their peak often change direction and not always for the better of their careers, Artic Monkeys are a recent example

Just re-edited my post above; it's best to go through the 3rd party companies as they have relationships with record labels and the likes and can get a better deal for you, but some artists and the like do want ridiculous sums of money as they realise they can demand it!
What was your band called out of interest?

But what about when you become a major part of the team, one of the key players, and your on your wage whilst Alan Smith, Xisco, Nolan, Coloccini and Enrique are all on 50k+. And even Ameobi and Lovenkrands are on more than you, even Perch is. Then an established Premier League club comes along, with potential to play in Europe. Your head wouldn't turn one bit?

It was all for the same song :)

They even sent a lawyer to all of our gigs for 2 years to ensure it wasn't played as we'd signed an agreement never to play it again on pain of being sued senseless.

Got to our penultimate gig and the crowd of about 3,000 was baying for the song. The lawyer knew were splitting up so just nodded his head to play it.

It went a bit mental ;)

  6. No i wouldn't care, all i'd want to do is play for Newcastle United, my home club.

Couldn't give a **** about the money aslong as i can live a decent life.

I wouldn't care if it was Barcelona offering me 250k a week and a chance to play on the best team in the world, or Liverpool offering me a chance to challenge for a Europa spot and a pay rise.

They went all long haired and moody rock, their legions of wannabe indie kids didn't appreciate

You said quite clearly "that's why I said £30k isn't that much" and my reading skills are very good thank you. Like I said you don't have a ****ing clue about money or life!

Band was called N.F. L. (couldn't advertise ourselves as Nice F****ing Life and it was stolen from Anthrax anyway).

Started in 1991 and broke up in 1996 but it was a hell of a 5 years.

You say that as someone who knows it wouldn't happen. I'd play for any professional club for free right now. But if i was on say 5k a week playing for Boro(also if i was a Boro fan). I'd move to a European club where i would have the chance to play for medium and big crowds instead of just small numbers and i'd have better pay. First and foremost i'd be furthering my career which EVERY musician wants. Nobody would turn down a change of music for the chance to become big.

  11. Well want i meant to say is that 30k isn't that much for a footballer.

Just because you're 42 and i'm only 19, doesn't mean you can say that i don't have a clue about ****ing life mate. I've had to pay for every single piece of luxury i've got now, because my parent's are extremely strict, and never buy me anything.

I asked for a new bike when i was 13, my dad told me to **** off and get a job.

So it's not like i was a ****ing spoilt brat that got everything hadned to him. I'm not saying i've had it as rough as many people around, but i do know alot about earning a living and taking responsibility.

This is why i don't want to claim dole money, because i haven't earned it and don't just want to take it for sitting on my arse when there are people that need it far more than i do.

The point i was trying to get across is that i know 30k isn't alot of money to most footballers, but i'd rather stay and play for my home club for a lower wage, than be earning a higher wage for another club.

Tash half the time the bands don't make a lot of money even when they're at the height - most of it is all smoke and mirrors.
Your whole life is owned by the record label, you tend to get **** all royalties from songs (even if you write them) as the record label takes a chunk, the producer, the recording engineer/s, any studio musicians * & works it down until you pay the promotion costs of the album/ep, production costs of the cds, your agent/manager and so forth out of your royalties and paycheque.
Most the time the cars, the house, the private jets are all the record labels and they just give you them while you're with them amongst other companies giving you freebies in turn for you getting pictured using their products or you agreeing to do adverts for them.
The only way bands generally make money is from their gigs, even then there's money to be paid to promoters, graphic designers (merchandise, stages and flyers), sound engineers, equipment hire, transport and so on, you'd be surprised if you actually took a look at some artist's accounts how little they do have that is actually theirs.

*(on this course currently reading a book called The Art of Mixing by a producer named David Gibson and with every band he records he gets studio musicians to record the instruments and challenges the band if they don't like the studio musician version that'll he pay for their time & he hasn't yet had to pay - this is quite a common occurrence as our lecturers like to remind us!)

And my point is that on the one hand you seem to be distainful of money and think that people who strive for it are sell outs and yet on the other hand you don't realise that £30k/per week is a fortune. Your worldview in terms of money just doesn't seem to be that in touch with reality.

But I apologise for my overbearing tone with you before it wasn't justified.

I was Hairy Spice but got dropped from the label shortly before they hit the big time.

I came up with the line 'zigahzig ah' heartless bitches!

  17. And again you show you can't read. I never said 30k wasn't a fortune, but some people wouldn't walk across the room for 30k! You really think that 30k is that much to most footballers these days? Even some players on our very own team, 30k isn't even a weeks wages!

I think 30 grand is a ****ing massive amount of money, but to footballers to Andy Carroll, 30k isn't obviously that much, because he left his home town that loved him to get more!

You can speak in what ever tone you ****ing want, i don't care.

Nah I haven't, is that a band or a song?

Aye, chances are she didn't write the song, so whoever did probably sorted it out!
