A bit early I know but no harm in getting early views. Southampton v Doncaster 15:00 Saturday 24th March 2012. Last game: Hull 0-2 SOUTHAMPTON, A briilliant win on a tricky pitch against a side with a superb defence. Predicted Team: Davis Richardson, Fonte, Hooiveld, Fox, Guly, Hammond, Schneiderlin, Lallana Sharp, Lambert Subs: Martin, Cork, De Ridder, Harding, Chappers. Prediction: SOUTHAMPTON 2 - 0 Lambert, Sharp, As Nigel has said one game at a time and Doncaster are fighting for their lives so this wont be easy. We should be too strong though and with a big crowd another home win will have us knocking on the premier door! Lets hope Billy gets on and scores!
Im going for a 4 - 1 Doncaster seem to be scoring goals now and think they will get an early goal, but we will come back at them and win comfortably.
You shall beat Doncaster on saturday and move further clear in top spot. Doncaster appear doomed and lacking any confidence. Good luck and please take all 3 points of Messrs. Blackpool, Reading and Middlesboro when you play them. Thanks and
I think this will be tough. If we don't get the early goal or if Donny do i think it will be really cagey. However if we get a goal within the first 20mins i reckon it could be a demolition. One goal to ease the players nerves, second to deflate donny players and then it will be a matter of how many... hopefully. We just need that early goal! Come on NA put Sharp on. He knows how to play against Donny so should be a good asset to have.
We should play Sharp and hope the ex-player hoodoo goes against Donnie, Sharp grabbing a brace plus Lambert on the score sheet 3-1 Saints COYR
Well done by the way going up to Hull top effort - was at Leeds and Millwall but Hull was one too many
Just thought we were getting a bit jaded towards the end of the game last night so NA may well swap a couple of players for this game. This will certainly be the case in April with 5 games in 14 days before the final match, but with our depth and the fact that Reading and WHU have the same problem, we should be ok. Playing Billy on Saturday seems obvious, but they're in trouble so would he really want to help send them down?
As Schad said, last night, if Nigel wants to select a plate of lukewarm cabbage, that's good enough for him. And frankly, it's good enough for me too. In fact, it has been for a very long time. If, for example, Billy Sharp doesn't get any more minutes for the rest of the season, I shall be disappointed for the lad, but that will be where it ends. There will be a reason why he hasn't been selected, and Nigel's track record is so good, I don't think it's worth bothering to question it. It will be interesting to see who he picks against Doncaster, but, unless Chung is fit, I think he'll just start with the same as he had against Hull City. No doubt he'll ring the changes, starting around 55-65 minutes, in which one of the players may be Sharp. Then again, we'll have the St Marys billiard table pitch, as against the KC Stadium Rugby League combination pitch, so Adkins might make quite a few changes.
Agreed Nigel knows best, only reason I say there will be changes is a few players looked knackered. So maybe freshen it up abit?.
Saints are so finely tuned at the moment, I think that the fact that Donny are fighting for their lives will only go so far, and I expect Saints to win well, say 3 or 4-0. Yestedays result really was excellent, and dare I say the obvious, it is looking very good for us at the moment!
Doncaster have had some good results against top teams, including us, but sure we'll get a 2.0 or 3.1 win. Adkins flooded the midfield on Tuesday, but think he will go back for his normal formation (at least in 1st half) and swap Puncheon for Sharp (or Lee if fit). Someone said SKD was hurt in warm-up...please tell me he's ok. He's as important at Lambert to us for the last few games.
