    Fair comment.

LFC has always stated that the club would go with the families wishes,so can only assume that as it stands the families dont want our club to play on the 15th of April.

Cant honestly say i know any Liverpool supporter that wants us to ever play on that date.

Your mixing things up a little there custard.

Not playing on the anniversary of the disaster has nothing to do with the governments release of documents.the documents are going to be released anyway due to the freedom of information act and the pressure put on the government by the e-petition,THFSG,a commons motion in support of releasing relevant documents and the hard work Steve Rotherham MP,.
Plus we play on the nearest weekend to the annivesary every year but hold our annual commemoration at Anfield on the 15th every year.

Rival fans, just don't get it or don't want to. the 15th of April holds alot of very fresh and vivid memories of a tragic set of events that have subsquently been covered up with continually lies. The memorial service held at Anfield is a vital part of the grieving process for the families of the 96, until the truth comes out football on the 15th of April isn't as important as the memory of the 96 to Liverpool football club and all associated with it.

We do get it, its just that people need to move on. Nothing stops Liverpool from grieving on the 15th, be a match on or not.
UTD have moved on so have Bradford.
Remember them playing football (if there is a Liverpool game on) If I was one of those who lost my life there, thats what I would want.

    This.

I'm slightly dissapointed that Bolton haven't come out and tried to perform for Muamba against Aston Villa tonight, and the idea of pulling out of the FA cup is disgraceful, what would Muamba think <doh>

However, Liverpool don't want to play on the 15th of April? Surely, this is an chance to come out and play FOR the 96. Again, what would they think?

I'm not supposed to be here - but this issue is just too close to my heart.

Do rival fans not appreciate that of all of the options the club could have chosen to commemorate the anniversary the service at Anfield has become a part of our tradition. The club, the fans and the majority of the people of Liverpool are committed to this act of remembrance.

What other clubs do or what other fans think does not even come into the equation. This is OUR way of remembering and showing respect.

Ok, but I don't think you should be allowed to play the game on another day, and should give a 3-0 victory to the other team, although someone said they would accept any consequences, so this should be a problem.

I'm not even a rival fan, I'm not really anti-scouse in any way, I just think it's a good chance to play whilst remembering them.

My question is, when will it end?

Why should it ever end? As for what you think - we don't care.

If ever UEFA, the FA, Sky tried to force us to play on that day then we would (as a club) have to accept any penalty that was forthcoming. However, to date, they appear to have far more respect for our feelings and traditions than you do.

Because I am totally sick and tired of having to read and respond to idiots like No One Famous, Arseanl4Life and KuntaKinte - let alone the dross on GC.

I came here to talk about football and specifically LFC (pls not NOT Utd!) and to share a joke or 2. However, visits became less and less enjoyable due mostly to the above. Therefore I'm taking some time out and will then make the decsion as to staying or finding another home.

This isn't the right forum for you if you don't care about other fan's opinions from different clubs.

it is a day for rememberance, not 1 minutes rememberance for those that died, the day.

if for TV matches can be moved or not played on a certain date, certainly this particular anniversary merits no game being played, family members of victms are also fans, lets not have the memory of those on that day overshadowed by bull**** about soccer.

A fitting thing to not play on that day. Also London's finest is probably John Terry in actuality.

Depends if the 'other fan's opinions are offensive or not.

If you had a modicum of comprehension then you would be able to define that the majority of Redmen support the no-play stance. Therefore we are not about to change our minds on the ethicacy of that stance.

Now you made your point. It was dealt with firmly and politely but still you insist on coming to this board to re-state your opinion. Such behaviour smacks of either ignorance or arrogance. I therefore doubt that you are the best arbiter of which forum I should use.

to those who asked this serious question about this... ie dead passive and eats... I understand your point of view and coming from the outside i think this is a quite reasoned view and respectful. Thanks for sharing it.

The reason why we don't play on the date is that a separate memorial service occurs, i suppose by tradition is the way to term it. The families of the dead basically have that right to have thier memorial and the club chooses to go to that memorial.

people who are less respectful threw in to their hate the muinch and bradfod tragedies. I called this person what i did becuse i witnessed what he said on other topics and i won't be swayed from that view....... but i would suggest that said tragedies are not 23 years ago but longer and if anyone wants to tell the mothers of children etc who lost their lives that they ought to have a match not a religious service fine. I wouldn't

I think given time (and no 20 years isn't that long when parents and familes are still there) the situation may not arise.

look we know no player and only dalgish is at the club from 1989. they could go play a game. Its simply respect and going and attending a religious service for those families. Thats how i view it, do i see it being like this o nthe 50th anniversary? no but that is natural.

Its the families who don't want to play on the 15th. So I think the club are a 100% correct to be doing exactly what the families want, and this is what I say to the people who are claiming to know what the 96 would want: I'm pretty sure their families knew them better than you ever did so I really don't see how you can contradict what the families have said and say the 96, none of which you know personally, would want football to be played on that date.

Thing is mito a couple of them say that if we were to be 'told' to play on the 15th and we refused as a club to do so we should punished/forfeit the game/be docked 3 points.

What the outsiders wont consider are the points yourself and the rest of us have made plus the fact that LFC have 'always' stated the families come before the club(very admirable)and they like to share the mass/service on the anniversary at Anfield with the manager, players as well as the supporters.

If they refuse to consider the families feelings in this situation they are very poor human beings indeed.

Just last weekend Fabrice Muamba's situation put things into perspective(and thank god the lad is on the road to recovery),football was pushed into second place by an issue that was far more important than it.

PMK, that is true. kenny said i think uefa and the fa have been good on it. All it requires is some common sense and early intervention... ie when the fixtures come out we simply reorg the match just like the police or tv etc get to when the fixtures come out... theres nothing strange or unusual in that as it happens every simgle year for everyone.

the fa shock... have more common sense than your average internet warrior.. who'd have thought eh?

for me... if the fa wanted to or say someone playing in a CL semi two days later wanted to force it i think our club would just take the fine and docking of points.... cos in the end the thing is we are just listening to internet warriors making a cheap attack when they say that, you are dead right REAL football fans showed themselves in that spurs bolton QF. real people, real reactions people acting like real genuine human beings to each other. I applaud the spurs and bolton fans for that and am fairly sure that we'll continue to pay respects to the worst ever tragedy in english football history and if they want to moan they just reflect on themselves.

if you ACTUALLY look at a calender you would see that 15th april lands on a weekend only twice every seven years. so for 5 years the fa has no issue and on the other two years all that has to happen is a match moves from one day to the other.

IF we were in either european cup then you'd be talking to uefa, 3 days out of a week = 3 in seven yeas to worry about. CL = tuesday to wednesday, europa = thrus to no tv wednesday.

in other words the orginal point made was a mealy mouth whine that had no merit as is plainly obviosu not one team in 23 years ever got adversely affected by us requesting this.

the guys who asked in honesty about playing on the day and making a tribute are not doing this in my view, they are merely putting their view across and explaining why things are done i think just makes the not playing make sense.

As a reds fan who watched it happen on tv (and nobody belonging to me did) all i can say is I have to respect the familys involved on the day as its the least i can do. We are not asking anyone else to get involved and i am very sure that even though this year with the euros requires a compressed calender we would not put say oh utd at a disadvantage in the CL beacuse we'd not play a semi final or match on the saturday but wanted it on the sunday.

I am sure we'd put ourselves at the disadvantage to protect this day..... again add another few years to say a 50th anniversary then fine maybe it won't be like this. I don't want to but one has to say 1989 is a lot closer to the families than other things that occurred a longer time ago. example here in my lifetime is the world war 2 60th anniversary where they decided really to start scaling back cos not so many people were left. thats a harsh thing to say but the analagy is you are asking the survivors (familys and those on the day who were there or injured) to scale it back after 23 years. For me if they want their service they can have it any way they want and if my club takes the trouble to respect and attend thats good.

good things are good things. i cannot find one single occasion where anyone was in any way adversely affected in footballing terms by this. ergo... i firmly state the OP of the article shown up by this thread had an agenda based in hate.
