Fully agree with this, we have the money now to do this, if we wait 4-5 years we may have missed the boat by quite some margin, it makes sense to do this whilst the interest is there, the thing that concerns me is what role will the council and ospreys have in this?
That's heart warming apple! Only 10,000 tickets sold, let's hope it stays like that, I'll get my ticket back from one of those plastics then!..................... please log in to view this image
I wouldn't hold much hope for that Dragon, over 10500 tickets sold with about a fortnight to go, a lot of people are holding off until the last possible moment to renew, I have spread it over 4 months interest free, I have one more payment to go. But mates of mine are holding off renewing until next week as money is tight. http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2669306,00.html
My biggest worry is that if we built a 30,000 seater stadium and maintained prem/support levels then it would leave Cardiff fans with absolutly NOTHING to argue about .... The only comeback they currently have is that legoland is bigger, if/when we take that away too it could well be suicide watch on the Eastern block ! i guess the nearest rival will then be Aston Villa
All good and valid points and it will all come out in the wash, but as far as i'm concerned 20,000 is not near enough 25,000might not be but 30,000 sounds good it works in cities the same size and smaller than ours
It's well documented that the CCC was expandable, Swamp. But all that blue plastic showing when you're on TV isn't a good look.
expansion has always been on the agenda but not for a few seasons yet. all that has happened is the club has been forced to put in an application to stop mcdonalds or anyone else from getting their proposals the go ahead. as it stands now nobody can do anything and a lengthy process will now have to take place. it could take years just to get planning permission and thats without getting stadco and the ospreys to agree. perhaps the ospreys dont want extra seats as the are only averaging 7, 000 per game and a 30,000 seater would leave them with 23,000 empty seats...that is not good for them and will be taken into account as its as much their stadium as ours.....there is years of deliberation to do yet but at least now mcdonalds have had their plans halted in their tracks....and thats why the topic of expansion has come to the fore front ....
This is my opinion, and its thrown at you for your comments. Some of the extra 10,000 seats would be useful for those Swansea fans who were unable to get season tickets. Also give more tickets for sale on a casual basic, like we have fans all over the World let alone country, so if they come home they have a chance to get a ticket. Don't we have to offer 10% to the away fans? So there's 1,000 gone before we start!! Increase the season Tickets from 16,500 to 20,000. 3,000 for away fans. 1,000 for schools. 1,000 for servicemen/senior persons. 4,000 for general sale. If anyone adds these up, it is 1,000 short, well there's always the corp/giveaway/freebies etc for the club (possibly McD's). Rename the ground The Liberty McDonald Stadium and rake more sponsorship off them. Perhaps they could invent a Liberty Burger!!! Ensure better parking facilities, eateries and drinkeries - so both sets of fans can enjoy before and after and home victory. Seems a good plan, any further ideas.
JackSwan the liberty stadium is already under sponsorship so that is impossible unless Liberty allows it. And the 10% rule I think is for cups, otherwise man utd would have to offer over 7k for away games, I think the 2k is a minimum in the premier league though. Yes I would like to see the new arrangements along those lines, but seriously doubt it will happen, circa £12m-£15m spent must be recouped and that won't help much in doing so.
i personally could not endorse anything to do with mcdonalds or any such like businesses, it goes against my principals
I agree, never go to those dumps and I have never taken my kids to one ever, they are a part of the reason why there is so much obesity in the country, shocking that more and more are opening, was pleased when the one on the kingsway closed.
