<laugh> I think we can learn a thing or two from Bilbao.

I'd put a £1 on Arsenal and Bayern Munich as this years opposition

    That'd be a pretty amazing line-up.

I know they want a triangular tournament so it all fits into a day but it would be a shame not to have Bilbao back.
They should defend their crown vs Saints, Arsenal and Bayern in an ideal world.

Doubt it will be the same two teams again. But i'm sure it will be two fairly well renound names, with at least one coming from abroad. More than likely from the middle echelons of one of the half decent European leagues.

To be fair, i'm more intrested in the pre-season tour being announced!

Hopefully we will be a PL side which will attract more top teams.
With the Olympic torch I get the impression this years tournament is being organized well in advance to give teams the chance to put it in the diary.
It's essentially only 90 mins of football so any foreign side would have to combine it with other friendlies in this country.

I'd love to see Bilbao & Juventus ;)

I would like to see Bilbao defend their crown and maybe Chungs old team venturing overseas for a game.
Whoever turns up, what a day it could be with the torch on show and possibly celebrating the "P" word too.

Looked at route and the torch is parading through Newport on the 14th before crossing to the SMS area...perhaps I would be let off work early if I offered to take it with me. You'd see a lot of the torch because it would be the slowest lap of the ground you'd ever see...with luck I would finish by the start of the Olympics.
Interestingly, the torch is also being paraded around the west of Southampton on the 15th.

premier league teams played each other over in Asia for the last couple of years...don't recall any teams in the same division playing each other in a friendly in their own country

I completely understand why they have this memorial match (nice trophy by the way), but shame that the Ted Bates trophy is not used. Could it be used for something else...like player of year etc?
