I was there for that. But i remember the que for the Man City replay in 73. Got back on the night after game and joined the que out side the Fulwell end as soon as igot up on the Sunday and even then it was massive! For those of you to young to remember the replys in those days were in the same week as the first tie so only 4 days to get the tickets sorted and the fans in the ground!
It is a pity that it can't really happen, but I can't see anything changing in the foreseeable future...In the meantime me and thee will still share a cyber-pint eh..
I was at Goodison on Saurday and shared a pint with Evertonians in a pub right next door to the ground. Great atmosphere inside the ground. I want to see the Sol rocking for the replay!
With regards to atmosphere, it should be helped that there is no clear favourite and that in the cup in general after Bolton we are the rank outsiders.
There were some pubs who allowed away fans in, but there were also plenty that only allowed home fans only.. This is a something which really bugs me, as I feel that talking football with your opponents fans is all part of the day out..
I am torn, my heart says **** the money and just go and my head says you should go to work and save the money. I just keep thinking I will be at work either trying to avoid the score so I can watch the game later or I will be trying to watch it on a ****ty stream. I don't think I can miss this game I am going to have to let my heart rule my head!!!!
Do it mate. It's a nightmare time for me to come over, but I had the same battle as you in my head. It could be a remember forever evening, money can't buy that!
Right mate its your fault I have just bought me and the other half tickets in the premier concourse. I just could not miss it. As you say sometimes money cannot buy a moment that might be unforgettable.
Good lad! I'm flying over for it, I don't wanna look back and think I should have been there, plus I ain't been home since Christmas so i'm due one!
Your right, I feel much better now I have booked the tickets. I was all depressed thinking I was going to miss it. Just got to book a hotel now so I can get out on the beer before and after the game.
The Travelodge in the city is cheap as chips, it's not the best, but it's adequate. Straight into the bars, 10 mins walk to the Estadio de la Luz, i'll probs book it myself, not fair on my mother me rolling in at 3 am ****-faced!
Game is on the Tuesday. Will be on TV but would still expect massive crowd. Will miss it as I am in Egypt but will be looking for any TV that is showing it.
It's no hardship Reg, it's got the makings of one of those nights to remember, I can't bear the thought of missing out! Are you going to Sharm? If so, there's a row behind the main street, and there's an English bar called the Old Oak, I had the misfortune of being in there with about 30 Burnley lads when they beat us 3-1. Canny boozer though, about 20 screens, cheap booze and bait
Look for Showsports, as opposed to skysports. Watched the spurs match live 2 years ago. Premier games on all the time. Not sure about cup games but worth trying. ITV may sell the broadcasting rights abroad
Been in it. English pub! It only had one bloody St. George flag up when a was in 2 years ago. That was enough to call it English.
