A memorial stone in a garden dedicated to former Newcastle and England manager Sir Bobby Robson has been defaced. The garden was opened on Gallowgate, in Newcastle, close to St James' Park, in May last year. Liz Luff, from the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, said on Twitter that the council would be washing the "obscenity" off the stone on Monday. The garden includes a series of stones featuring images to celebrate Sir Bobby's career. Of the graffiti, Ms Luff tweeted: "I can't believe someone would do that." The foundation was set up in 2008 and works with scientists at Newcastle University to help develop cancer treatments. Sir Bobby died in July 2009 aged 76 after a long battle with cancer.
Taken from the Chronicle website. YOBS have vandalised a memorial garden created in memory of football legend Sir Bobby Robson. The vandals defaced a stone portrait of the former Newcastle boss, which is near to St James' Park. It is believed Norwich fans were the culprits as Sir Bobby also managed their bitter rivals Ipswich. Liz Luff, of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, which raises cash for cancer research, said: "I'm furious to find the memorial garden vandalised. "I can't believe anyone would do that." Sick twats.
****ing arseholes - they are not wanted by any football club - I'd rather sit in the stadium with a few more empty seats than have arseholes like this at our ground (if they were Sunderland "supporters)
I doubt even the most bitter Sunderland fan would do this. SBR represented the North East, not just Newcastle. Apparently it was Norwich fans anyway/
From my experiences, Norwich fans are some of the most friendly in the country, so I hope people don't start labelling them all with this terrible act of vandalism which was probably carried out by a couple of brain-dead morons..
Definition of Brain Dead means a brain must have existed in the first place - to do this would indicate otherwise!! (IMO) QAgree about the Norwich fans - normally some of the loveliest fans you'd meet (except if you support Ipswich!!)
I think you would find that if it was a sunderland fan, and they found out who it was, they'd be chased out of town by us all here kidda and lucky not to have seven shades of ****e kicked out of them in the process. Niall Quinn, Sunderland legend, is a patron of SBR's foundation and that's something every Sunderland fan that I want to be associated with, is justifiably very proud of. Cowardly scum is all I can describe these bastards as being.
Said before that Lady Elsie, SBR widow, still comes to every Sunderland home game and I'm sure just like SBR goes to all Newcastle home games. They really are north east football fans.
