No remaining doubts about the 2nd penalty. I've got to say that if you're a defender, playing against Saints, you have a quiet word with yourself NOT to get anywhere near a handball situation, because it's an automatic goal.
I'm not a referee, but does it make a difference? I've seen many one hand penalties, but you are very wise , Chapel.
I mean what is he thinking? How did he ever think he was going to get away with that? Absolute idiot, cost his team a point. Cheers mate!
Actually, could be used now, completely untouched as the Daily Star spot the ball completion. It would have to have a caption though. "Hint; the football is the round object towards the top of the photo, being handled by the defender.
i was sceptical about the first penalty as it seemed lambert just fell over robinson but the highlights on saints player show a slowed down version which shows robinson sticking his leg out to trip him.
Robinson fell over, but then lifted his leg to trip Ricky. Photos have clearly shown the handball as well. Just shows how wise Nigel is in similar situations, he usually says I'll have to have a look at that or I didn't see it clearly. The value of pausing before you cry foul.
Indeed. I read an article quoting Kenny Jacket, I believe, well after the game, in which he said that he thought the Saints contingent in the crowd had persuaded the referee into giving Saints the two penalties. He thought one would have been ok, but to give two was harsh. He did end his comments by saying that he hadn't seen the events since the match. I think if he had looked at the replay, he would have altered his opinion.
