Alright Roger? You might be right about us not winning anything for a while, but as for me being a mackem, I'd rather stick pins up me japs eye. Nee offence like.........
Rank hypocrisy if they did, the fans identify more with Ireland than Britain and hate England but would be happy to play in the English league. Leaving the politics aside though I think it would be good on pure football terms. They do have amazing support, the atmosphere they generate is amazing if a little bigoted and they would be much more interesting to have in the league than a team like Wigan. They would never get a shot at the Champions League again though and even Europa League would be doubtful. Just can't see it happening especially if they vote for independence in Scotland, you can't have a team from a different country all together in another countries league which would be the case with a yes vote.
If they join, they join at the bottom. Thats simple. Wolves are bottom of the league, and player for player they are way better than Celtic, IMO.
which is what i said the Combined Counties League is the bottom 5 leagues below league two with is 8 years to the PL if they got back to back promotion and with there money they shouldbe able to get into the league quite easily then they can get money from TV again and build on that
Yep. There would be massive media interest as well, this would aid them, and also help out clubs at that level, Kettering, for exapmle might be gone come Tuesday.
I am all in favour of Celtic coming to League 1 They will have to start near the bottom so its not as if they are going straight into the premier league They will make more money for our lower league clubs with there great support, I would aslo imagine they would be on TV the odd few times a season so that would also make more money for our lower league clubs. It would offer greater competition to our leagues and hopefully the quicker they reached the premier league the better IMO. The lesser teams in Scotland would have a greater chance of winning a trophy For me its a yes
Not really. In Celtics case I think talk is of them replacing Portsmouth as it looks like curtains for them
No. It's that simple. The only reason they want in to our league is our money so **** right off. I would be happy to replace the league cup with a U.K cup The Scottish league is all Scottish people need to realise independence is a bad idea.
Very vocal opposition from Sunderland fans. One might suspect your a bit wary of Celtic tempting MoN back
I doubt if Mon would go back but it isn't that for me. I just wouldn't want a Scottish team in the English leagues. It's bad enough having Welsh sides there.
This one seems to come up like goal line technology every few months. As I stated last year & was shouted down by a number Iâll repeat. IT WONâT HAPPEN. The current rules of affiliation for a country to its Confederation forbid it. For it to happen would require FIFAâs full membership voting on the change which would be like every vote going to ONE country to host the World Cup. Possible yes but highly unlikely. Only three or four exceptions have been granted by FIFA since the rules of âCountry of Originâ were introduced in the early 70âs. The two that I know of are, Toronto FC of Canada playing in the U.S.Aâs MSL & the Wellington Phoenix of New Zealand playing in the Australian A-League. For anyone at all interested The New Zealand franchise took a number of years to be granted. When it finally was, the first of which was based in Auckland went into administration after a two or three seasons. The next which was formed from the remains promptly followed suit very quickly. The Wellington Phoenix rose from the Auckland ashes & after 5 seasons are currently in third position, assured of a playoff berth next week.
Not amazed, would kill Scottish football, and dont want them anyway, unless Alex Salmond plays for them.
What a sad story... The father of a Kilmarnock football player has had a suspected heart attack as he watched his son win a cup final. Midfielder Liam Kelly was seen running up the tunnel at Hampden Park after his father collapsed at the end of the club's 1-0 victory over Celtic in the Scottish Communities League Cup final. He was treated by medical staff at the scene. His condition is not known. Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels told BBC Radio Scotland: "Liam's father had a heart attack and we are worried". The club's players had just lifted the cup for the first time in their history when the news started to filter through to them. They immediately cut short their celebrations and left the pitch. BBC Scotland's football correspondent Chick Young said: "Liam Kelly was the player who ran up the tunnel. What has happened is his father at the end of the game collapsed. "He is being treated by doctors. That clearly halted all the emotion of the celebrations by the Kilmarnock players and staff in their tracks.
I would rather have Berwick Rangers in - after all they are English! If ether Celtic or Rangers do want to join they should have to do what AFC Wimbledon did and start at the very bottom of the pyramid and work their way up on merit. I might even go and watch them if they were playing Northallerton!!
