But ultimately 2 teams will lose their league status still due to this even if it is in a few years time, right? Or have I missed something pal?
yes but when its spread out its more likley that the teams which deserve to go down will (like normal) rarther then have one season when nobody goes up or 5 teams go down
ha ha, I still don't see it as if they relegate one more club then they usually would, then that team wouldn't deserve to go down as they finished 1 place above safety and if it wasn't for the Scottish teams joining then they would still be playing league football. No matter which way you look at it, to me the bottom line is 2 English clubs are going to lose their league status through this and I find this totally unacceptable and really unfair.
It would create too many problems if they were to join the English league. For a start there is the Scottish Independence question. If Scotland did get independence where would that leave Celtic. A club playing in a 'foreign' country or would they then have to move back to the Scottish league again. It would also give FIFA a reason to stop England, Scotland etc playing as different countries and bring the possibility of us having to play as Great Britain. Perish the thought!! As others have said it could also bring about the demise of Scottish football as the other clubs rely on the income they get from games against the Auld Firm. If Celtic wanted to join the English league I think the only way they should be allowed to do it would be if they moved lock, stock and barrel from Glasgow and relocated somewhere in England. Maybe somewhere that doesn't have a league team in the area. Cornwall say. I quite like the sound of Mousehole Celtic! And before you ask, yes, there is a place in Cornwall called Mousehole although I believe the name is pronounced Mowzel.
Well how about calling them MK Celtic lol they can have a derby game with MK Dons. I think it would be better if they put Newcastle into the Scottish league after all they are nearly in Scotland and the premier league would not have to put up with their fans thinking they should be winning everything every year because after all they are a big club
League 1... Bournemouth, Yeovil and Exeter, (the only SJP) on a nice winter Tues night..... Guess Celtic wouldn't see many away fans then.....
Can't see this happening too much hassle with FIFA etc. Then we have to assume Celtic will be happy not being in Europe for at least 4 or 5 years maybe more and losing out on all that revenue. If and it's a big if this does come off they should start in the Conference and work their way up as long as their finances are in order.
I've supported Newcastle since 1972 and seen us win nothing. Don't expect us to either. Neither do my mates. Would be nice if we did though. Don't know where you get that viewpoint from.
Alex Salmond wants independance for scotland, i say give it to them and start reinforcing Hadrians wall. I have no doubt that Celtic will want a special dispensation so that they will not miss out on Europe while they climb the leagues. Leave the sweaty socks where they are.
I'm with you on this one Sombrero for the reason you state , and the fact that somebodys team is going to have to drop out to make way for them. How would you feel if the FA were to relegate your club to let Celtic in ? Pretty pissed off is my guess.
The only place they can join is te Combined Counties League this is the league where all the new teams start (afc wilmboldon ect...) they whould have 5 leagues to get into league 2 and the football league and with the attendences tey have it whould be likley to have back to back promotions No team has to miss out on anytihng and the clubs in the non leagues whould gain alot of money from attendences....
Is this daft ****er for real? Celtic boss Neil Lennon insists that they would be good enough to play in the Premier League. Fresh speculation has surfaced of the club looking to move to England with reports south of the border claiming talks have been held with the Football League over an initial move to League One. Celtic are 21 points ahead of Rangers and Motherwell in the SPL, although their Old Firm rivals were docked 10 points for going into administration. Lennon pointed to the likes of Scotland winger James Forrest and Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama as players who would thrive in the English top flight. Lennon told the Sunday Mail: "People keep saying the EPL is so far ahead - and in some respects it is. "But Celtic could play there and do all right. "I don't know where we would finish but I don't think we would get relegated. "But it is not just about quality - with our prestige, support, tradition and history, I think Celtic would add something extra to England's top flight."
What a clown. Any team that can romp to the title with Anthony Stokes up front shows how s**t that league is and again any team with Stokes up front is not good enough for the premier in my opinion.
nice to see you sombrero, mags could wait till2092 and still win nowt, you heard it here first, so do the sensible thing and go where your heart wants you too, you know you want to,.... be a mackem
Even if it was possible there is no way I'd want to see Newcastle playing in the Scottish League. They'd start winning trophies left, right and centre.
