The National is a week later than usual and he hasn't been overly campaigned...why not?

Nass,if we was trained by the godolphin...no offers.

Oddy, bring those beer swillers to San Mames and we'll send them home dizzy...tbf at least they have a decent following.

The self professed "biggest team in the world" were offered 2,000 tickets for the Europa League pumping and turned up only 800 "supporters"..air traffic control strike in South Asia maybe?...or perhaps they were at home checking their share prices..tools,as Fat Al would say <whistle>

There haven't been that many that have tried both latterly KS but off the top of my head Garrison Savannah,Dubacilla and Rough Quest all placed or better at Liverpool after running well in the CGC.

If the horse is alright why not have a crack the National? He's just won the Gold Cup so he'll never be able to run in it again with this kind of mark. He stays superbly and although dosen't look suited to the big fences, you never really know. Throw in the fact this years novices look very good so its unlikey he'll be able to defend the title next year then why not have a crack? The Gold cup winner trying to win the National would be fantastic for the race as well.

I dont think anyone has yet mentioned the other possible deciding factor....the fact that the yard also have Sunnyhillboy who interestingly was blue across the board on Oddschecker yesterday.
Personally I think they will go for it. He will never be this well handicapped again. So long as he has come away from Cheltenham healthy then I think he will run. AP faces a tough call.

Not sure its that tough, it would be hard to get off a Gold cup winner I would think. If he does run, with McCoy on I could see a nationwide gamble coming on.

Firstly top effort from Epona who said that Synchronised coudl win the Gold Cup.
For me, and this will sound extremely harsh, the fact he's won the race confirms to me how bad this Gold Cup was.
Synchronised may have improved through the season but I can't ever remember a Gold Cup winner preparing for the big race with a couple of hurdle races in his build up and being beaten 33 lengths by a 120 rated hurdler in one of them.
It may in the history books but it's like a throwback to the 90s when we had handicapper after handicapper winning the blue ribband...

Hmm, not a big synchronised fan, fair play to the horse though, he can only beat what is put in front of him but i'm not sure it was the greatest GC we'll see..in fact, it was poor. I guess if the horse is sound a crack at the national may be worth the effort, he'll either run a good race or flail and have the excuse of having a hard race in the GC and not enough time to recover fully. The grand national is a great spectacle but we know that the horses who run it aren't world beaters and maybe synchronised(albeit a GC winner) would be right at home in the race.

If i owned him i'd retire him because the only way is down. But theres no fun in that.

There'll never be a better opportunity to get the double up, I can't ever remember the gap between races being 30 days.

Have taken 8/1 e/w NRNB + BOG with Bet365 for the national! Could be a fairytale story!

    Synchronised Gold Cup 2.jpg

That picture sums up why I can't fancy Synchronised for the Grand National at all. He simply doesn't have the scope for the fences on what he has shown so far. To be honest I hope they don't try although it would be a fantastic story for a Gold Cup winner to run in the National. <cheers>

One of the few bets that's looking good for me, after a poor jumps season so far. If he gets turned over at Aintree il have to explain to the mrs why we wont be going on holiday this year:biggrin:

I also have that same bet ongoing - looking for a decent turnout for my few bob, although I only managed to get on at 5/2 (I think). I have to say I've never been more confident - if he didn't get beat at Cheltenham, then he's not going to get beaten at Aintree, what with no Oscar Whisky, no Thousand Stars, no Voler la Vedette.

Smad Place and Dynaste are no schmucks, but it's easy money now, surely. (famous last words)

I'd be more confident in backing Red Rum's statue than Synchronised. He as his own way of getting round Cheltenham so I can't imagine him being all that good over National fences to be honest. History is against with the Gold Cup and the prospect of carrying top weight...

I was astounded that this horse beat Long Run in a Gold Cup and when the Giant Bolster is placing at 50/1 you know the calibre of the race. Poor renewal IMO and Im not overly getting excited about him in the near future. Too slow for a Betfair Chase or King George, I couldn't back him to regain the Gold Cup as that is an hard feat in itself. Handicapper at best, But no National horse. Harsh words maybe, But My honest opinion
