Sometimes one must resort to violence Dev. It is still a form of protest.

Very simplistic of course. Are you a pacifist Dev?

A wiser man than me once said that you cannot make an ommellete without breaking a few eggs.

So let's get this straight, are you saying they have a right to commit violent action for no apparent reason other than to vent their fury?

When I smash eggs I fully intend to make an omlette, the AC protesters smash eggs for the fun of it. Nothing is ever achieved when they break a few eggs, no metaphorical omlette has ever been cooked.

Unless you can give me any examples where anyone has ever taken notice of them and taken action to grant whatever the AC mob wanted?

I don't agree that those involved were merely rent a mob. Of course people will attach themselves to these things with other motives, this happens everywhere. So I do not think these riots happened simply for people to vent their anger.

I do believe that people have a right to use violence even when there is not much hope of success, even if it is to make a statement. There is many a violent action taken with less valid reason than venting your anger anyway.

ciaran, we are forum pals so I hate to do this but here is the issue with Dev

The protestors were wrong because it was the BRITISH police
Clooney was right because it WASNT the BRITISH police

Dev has a mate on the inside who tells him what is right and what is wrong

As I said forgive me if it was a wee bit patronising <ok>

When you're an A-list celebrity, there is no such thing as 'bad' publicity.

What riots? The tottenham riots were a reaction to a police shooting, the anti capitalist protest was a 3 month sleepover outside St Pauls. Wtf are you talking about

Not as simple as what you post, the people protesting about the shooting were doing it peacefully, it was then taken too far by local idiots. The original people involved in the protest have condemned the riots.
