Springtime has hit Berlin with a vengeance today - we should be up to 20°C by the time the Gold Cup starts. Sound decision from me to take the week off work. Managed to crack in 45km on the bike this morning so plenty of oxygen for the old grey matter.

    This afternoon's programme therefore reads:

    Watch Cheltenham
    Drink Beer
    Get the barbecue going
    Drink Beer

    <cheers>

    £5 on

    De Boitron
    Oscar Nominee
    On The Fringe

    Pays over 6k.

    Also did 2ew on

    Sadlers Risk
    Brindisi Breeze
    Midnight Chase
    Citizenship

Pays around 9-10k plus whatever the ew is worth. Not a 'lifechanger' as such but if either comes off I'll look at getting involved in the syndicate a relative of mine is organising :D

Afternoon all. Was i the only one slightly surprised that apparently yesterday was St Patrick's day? Kept having to check the calendar before realising that the clerk of the course felt that comandeering a country's national day was a good excuse for a marketing stunt...

On to today and my wallet is glad that it will soon be over for another year.

Triumph - Hibasat - mightily impressive last time out and 12s is a fair price.
County - I like Olofi in this one. CD winner, looks nicely handicapped and wouldn't be surprised to see the trainer and jockey win a race here.
Albert Bartlett - yet more Not 606 money on Boston Bob
Gold cup - sit back, cheer and savour the greatest horse of his generation. I think Kauto might run well too <whistle>
Foxhunters - Merchant Royal. Form looks as good as anything in the race.
    Martin Pipe - Changing times
Grand Annual - I know it's carrying top weight but I couldn't not back French Opera. On the plus side it did run well against Sprinter Sacre carrying bags of weight so we'll have to see.

    Good luck all.

All set from the sofa today. Just been through the trends guide again and really fancy Heron's Well for the foxhunters now. Also only LR, KS, Synch, WAF and DH can place in the Gold Cup having won Grade 1s so combine them all for the trifecta, it's only 60 lines!!

Despite this i think i'm gonna back knockara beau each way because i'm an idiot.

Baby Mix and Asaid in the first.

My heart tells me Kauto Star will win the Gold Cup, but my head tells me he won't, as not only is he 12 but I don't expect him to reproduce the form which saw him beat Long Run twice this season. But I would be delighted if Kauto Star won. COME ON KAUTO!

Balder Succes is the one for me in the Triumph and Citizenship in the County.

Alan King had a good looking team on paper but has had a week to forget. Hopefully Grumeti can at least get a winner on the board for him

Alan King also has Balder Succes Odd Dog - so if you're backing Grumeti, also back this one.

Can't believe how quick the week has gone, never drank so much coffee and coke and shouted at the TV before, glad I took the week off work or I would have smashed my monitor by now jumping up and down.

Best of luck to all but mine are going to win.....
