Not Newcastle related but important to Newcastle I think.

One of the main reasons given for the mass defection was the cross board threads from GC, I don't think it was the only reason but it was one.

We have been trying to alter the system to give mods full power over these threads, Mick spent money to get it sorted but every time he turns it on it breaks the site, don't ask because this is as technical as I get but he is still trying.

Until its sorted cross board threads have been taken off so cant be a problem.

Both this board and TBH the Sunderland board have suffered and both, IMO are the worse for it. The new forum may or may not take off but its certainly also suffering from what I can see so I am at a loss to see who wins in all this.

Maybe its just how forums go and maybe not606 has simply run its course but for those of us who still use it, and lots do, I will keep trying to make it work.

So, if the reason you only make the odd trip back is cross board threads, well, you can no longer use that excuse, just a thought.

 

It's evident that work is going on to prevent it from happening again, it's just a pity that so few were able to spoil it for so many in the first place.

Still, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

 

I honestly don't see it as a question of winning or losing, I visit both forums and find the toonforum format far better in terms of weeding the footie chat from the rest and spend more time there simply due to content. I'll stick my head back in here most days but am very wary of opening threads, particularly if I don't recognise the poster, which isn't a fantastic way to build a community. Still like the footie threads, and ignoring the usual few the banter between mackems and mags is pretty decent, but otherwise I don't spend much time.

I do find the idea that people felt that it was one or the other strange though, I frequent a fair few forums, you don't have to be faithful...

 

How do you draw that conclusion mate? That board is thriving very well at the moment . I only ever come over to talk to you lovely mackems every once in a while seeing as you have kept the main hub of your decent posters

set up another forum after some crazy activity on here, dunno what happened as wasnt around for it. Id post on both but I dont post a lot anyway so no point really.

 

Got to say I felt like that at first though once I thought about it rationally and heard Syd and Mick's opinions on it, I saw it as the sensible thing to use both sites.

 

I still use both tbh. Still go on the mackem board, got abuse off one of them yesterday for feck all, but hey ho...

Nah, he's alright with me for some reason. The Falcon I think his name was, nowt horrendous, but they do have some cracking posters on there, so I still go on from time to time.

 

Oh aye me too. A lot of good lads amongst them to be fair. The likes of MON Mush/Commachio are good crack and know when to take things with a pinch of salt (like around derby time ), but some just can't let it go!

 

Aye, I've seen you have the gloves on with them a few times. 5 goals and Leazes have their lives sometimes like. A couple of them can't accept any comment they make. It's a bloody scream sometimes.
