Oh dear, Steve Bruce reckons his connection with Newcastle United was the final straw in him losing his job at the Stadium of ****e.

I think it was the poor performances, terrible results and bad transfer dealings.

As for the Geordie connection... it didn't do Bob Stokoe much harm did it? The statue of him outside the SoS would tend to agree that point.

Bruce is going to whinge on until he gets a new job. He turned Sunderland from relegation strugglers, to a mid-table side, then back to relegation strugglers after heavy investment. They are now European hopefulls (outside chance this season, must be in with a shout next season).

If I were Bruce I'd keep quiet as every time he comes out with rubbish like this, it just gives journos an excuse to mention how he was taking Sunderland down. I hope he goes to manage in Qatar or something so we can stop hearing his opinion every week.

No sympathy for him, he's the one who chose to go there. Must have known if they hit a slump he'd be up against it. Bob Stokoe is respected by both Newcastle and Sunderland fans, something that Bruce will never achieve.

So who's going to the game tomorrow? What time are you going to be in town and what time are you leaving?

Yeah Steve it was nothing to do with you sending out a side week after week which didn't have a clue what they were meant to be doing.

Can't grumble with any of that from a Sunderland fan, he got massive backing from the fans and the board, he started to turn us into a very decent side but then took us back to where we started from, depending on loan players and no organisation.

Inexplicable team selections and substitutions confirming him to be the worst ever tactitioner since the Gallipoli Campaign. Results got him sacked, nothing more to it than than. Now he just comes across as a sad, twisted, bitter knob-end.

He was quite shrewd in the transfer market <ok>

I think the only possible link we have to his sacking is his constant use of us as a yardstick for success, despite us being in the worst slump in more than 20 years. His interviews always claimed that they'd finished above us three years running (goal difference, by default since we were in a different division, and because we randomly thought we'd beat West Brom last game of the season), rather than actually aiming to improve and have Sunderland challenging. The mans a moron, and I don't think many Sunderland fans would disagree with that.
