Hey guys, It certainly has been a season to remember so far and long may it continue. Ofcourse it is a season that is far from over with many goals still come but I was wondering what everyone's favorite goal has been so far. Is it Dean Hammond's screamer against Leeds to start this fantastic campaign in style? Perhaps Rickie's header infront of the Saints fans to give Southampton the lead at Fratton Park ? My Favorite so far , in terms of i could watch it again and again is Tadanari Lee against Derby, one hell of a strike. What a season we are experiencing so far ! Together as one
Connolly's against Middlesbrough. Systematic dismantling of a team who were previously in great form.
I love Lambert's goal against Leeds at Elland Road. Love the way he hits the ball on the volley from Lee's knockdown.
This Then Rickie v Ipswich last week, just for Morgan's cross field pass to Steve Then Deano v Leeds Than Tadanari
Steve De Ridders equaliser against Reading at the Madejski. Remember we had just gone down to 10 men with our skipper receiving a second yellow just before it. Unfortunately can't find that goal on youtube. Under the kosh the whole match, Kelvin MOTM, barely any chances or possession, then Hammond gets sent off, so De Ridder comes on and mops up the splatter of So'tons assassination.
I loved Lallana's goal v Derby, purely for the build-up (on par with Connolly's goal v Boro, but Lallana's was much quicker)
I went absolutely bonkers when he scored that, as did everyone else. I think the goal is on the saints goal competition 2011 on YouTube.
Connolly's Brazil against Middlesbrough goal [shown above]. Easily the best team goal I've seen in quite a few years, at any level. The only reason why it didn't get best goal at the Football League awards can only be because hardly any programme showed it. I believe only BBC's South Today showed the whole 26 move sequence, and then they speeded it up, to get it all in, in the allotted time. It was a lesson in patience, passing, movement, creativity, opening up the opposition to the point where they simply gave up, and then clinical finishing. Boro tried to get the ball, but they simply couldn't. It was superb football, and frankly, it doesn't really get much better than that.
gets my vote.... just think too many people didn't really appreciate how good it was. We probably didn't get it forward quickly enough for some people.
Was morgans cheeky chip through to lallana this year? That would get my vote if the finish was a bit more speculative! but i am gonna go with lamberts goal at leeds, one for the finish and two the importance
