Say Pogba did leave, would it be any surprise? You threw a load of money at a young kid and his family to get him here, why would he feel the need to show any loyalty to you.

Foreign players, in particular, aren't so in awe of your club that they feel compelled to stay on less money than they can get elsewhere. Most footballers today are far too wrapped up in their own self importance to think about anything else.

That's not the point. If you look at the interviews he has given, especially since he has started to play for the first team this season he has said he is looking to break into the first team. There has been little indication of anything like "I want to be playing first team football right now" or "I want to leave Man Utd". If that is the case with foreign players, then why has there been apparently a very similar situation with Zeki Fryers?

He doesn't necessarily want to leave Utd, he just wants the highest pay packet he can get. Never heard of Fryers before so I Googled him and Wiki says he was born in Manchester, what's your point?

Sky Sports understands teenage midfielder Paul Pogba has agreed to sign a new contract to stay at Manchester United.

Pogba's future at Old Trafford was uncertain as he was due to be out of contract at the end of the season and had been heavily linked with a move to Juventus.
The 18-year-old's situation was recently described as 'precarious' by his agent and speculation had suggested Pogba was set to leave United.

His omission from the squad for the recent Europa League home defeats by Ajax and Athletic Bilbao only prompted further doubts over his future.

However, Pogba was back in Sir Alex Ferguson's plans for Sunday's game against West Bromwich Albion and he appeared as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 win.

Speaking after the victory which sent United to the top of the Premier League table, Ferguson confirmed Pogba was still making up his mind regarding a contract.

It is now understood that Pogba has elected to continue his career with the reigning champions and has agreed terms with the club.

Pogba has made five substitute appearances for the Red Devils this season after making his debut against Leeds United in the Carling Cup.

The point is that Fryers isn't a foreign player who we've thrown money at to get him here, and yet according to the media he apparently still wants a bigger wage before he'll agree to stay here. So it's not necessarily foreign players who don't feel much loyalty in the modern game.

Tho' tbh I do wonder to what extent these young players demanding big contracts and immediate game time is just media BS and agent manipulation. We had the allegations that Morrison turned down a new contract, then it turned out we hadn't offered him a new contract and just wanted to get rid of the nutter. Now the rumours come out again about Pogba having signed with Juve for a five figure sum, then surprise surprise he turns around and signs a contract with us a few days later. Fryers has also denied turning down a contract.

Seems to me every time the club offers a contract to a player's agent, the agent then proceeds to run around every club they can trying to get a better deal to negotiate with and dropping hints to the media that he'll leave before even showing the contract offer to the player. Most players don't get involved in the actual contract negotiations anyway, they just leave it to their agent and then sign on the line when told. So the media report the contract has been refused, what they actually mean is the agent is playing silly beggars.

I just said "foreign players in particular", I'm not saying English players don't do it too. In the past, the likes of Andy Carroll would've been in their dream job at Newcastle and certainly wouldn't force a move.

Agents are a big problem but so are the way clubs act to get their man. Most Premiership teams are guilty of tapping up in some form or another and when a player knows how much they can earn elsewhere, they will do the rest of the work to move. The more extreme examples are Chelsea leaking every transfer bid they made for Modric, plus the wage they'd pay him or Berbatov being given a tour of your training ground before we'd even accepted a bid or given you permission to talk to him.

Dunno if foreign players are any worse than English ones tbh. The only difference is English players seem to be less willing to go abroad, so there's less wage competition for them.

The clubs only play the same game as the agents. Like Redknapp said when you got Crouch from Pompey after Sunderland had already had their bid accepted, 90% of approaches could be seen as tapping up cos as soon as there is a rumour that a player will leave the agents start ringing round all the clubs to see who's interested so the player already knows what his options are. The Modric and Berb ones were probably amongst the least controversial, cos at least there had been a genuine offer and you hadn't already agreed to sell the players to someone else.

Until United officially say it, then it's a complete non-story again.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. He's a promising player and could become very good.

I'm glad he's seen the light and put pen to paper. You never know how much credence to put to paper talk but we all know that agents are only in it for themselves.
I'm sure he'll get to play a bigger part next season.
