..... for a minute, ok? Weââ¬â¢re red ââ¬Ënââ¬â¢ white through and through, and weââ¬â¢ll have a propensity to see the best for ourselves, BUT, Iââ¬â¢d like you all to take some time and THINK (as a neutral would) about the end of season PL run in. Iââ¬â¢ve posted here recently about who I thought would stay up/go down, but looking at stats, I may have been wrong, please read the following before having a go at me!! We know that form plays a crucial part towards the end of season run in. Think of Fulham a couple of years ago - when everyone thought they were dead and buried - and they managed to escape the drop!! Look at the Championship where teams come on a late run to grab the last spot in the playoffs then go on to get promotion, Blackpool last year!! Just because a team has had some great results earlier in the season does NOT mean they are safe, Hull when they came up - with a great win at the Gooners and against others, flying high, but just escaped (squeaky bum time then)!! So the form, last 8 PL games (used as this mirrors the number of games to go) W1 D4, points = 7. The 8 games to come include teams battling for honours and those in the drop zone (some on a good run), key people out with squad injuries and suspensions AND the star striker quitting for money!! IF, the same points total was gained from the last 8 games ââ¬Â¦Ã¢â¬Â¦. is 43 points enough?? Unbiased views lads and lasses, would a neutral reckon this side will stop up or not? As a SAFC nut, Iââ¬â¢m hoping for the best outcome for us!
Something has to give or we're both in ****...By that something, I mean the form of the teams below us! They're worse teams, they play worse football and they, with their dogshite attendances, atmospheres and performances are becoming a bit of a dead weight in this league...Having said that, if they get more points than either of us, then WE deserve to go down, simple as that!
I think we will, but I'm biased obviously. I was looking to get unbiased views just taking the facts stated into consideration, no prejudices, as that form and the situation does not look good when you stand back in the cold light of day -
Staying up by a few points (I'd say two or three) isn't really a good situation but I can't see how you'll get many more points tbh
You cant really take it on form though, as we have played Chelsea, Stoke away (look at yesterday thats not easy), Arsenal away, Liverpool today, so we have had a few very hard games and only 1 fit striker as well, we have players coming back from injuries and if you cant take early season form, then you cant really take last 5 games form, but if you did then Us and the toon are ****ed lol on last 5 games we will both go down, its as simple as that, but its not that simple, we will get more than 7 points (i think we may need 45 this season to stay up), and Newcastle will stay up as well (probably both comfortably, maybe not points wise but position wise).
What a number of people failed to realise when I wrote this piece (10.30 ish Sunday morning) SAFC had 9 games to play. The team I was describing re form, etc was a newly promoted team - in NE1!! True, after yesterdays result we are not in a much better position (2 pts better off), but the question remains - as a neutral would the team I described stop up - or not??
I agree with JWAG on this point. There are teams below us both that are absolute dross. Both teams to stay up with some comfort.
