PERFORM Best Marketing Campaign Seems we are shortlisted for our season ticket campaign Good luck to us
I still think it's daft. Based on average attendances, we've probably had a drop in renewals for this season compared to last. And yet the marketing campaign to promote season ticket sales is nominated for the best marketing campaign.
There are other clubs up for that award that had big increases in season ticket sales. We shouldn't win it. http://www.football-league.co.uk/flawards/news/20120309/shortlist-in-focus-perform-best-marketing-campaign_2293338_2642315
All seems a bit silly to me, do they give awards to the best tea lady as well? Best pie, friendliest stewards, or perhaps the comfiest seats, do'nt think I'd be falling over meself trying to get to that award ceremony.
It's like the Oscars, they have all the crappy ones like best makeup and things but people only pay attention to the best screenplay, best male, best female etc. These ones tonight are for the player of the year and things like that but have crappy unimportant ones like best marketing campaign. Going further on what I said, I could understand a nomination for originality or something like that being attached to our campaign, but best should be the most successful.
I quite liked our campaign, it was reasonably clever with a hint of Hull, I hope we win it. Despite the fact that it's not actually worth winning.
I think we must have. The BBC Sport website has an article with all the winners from tonight, except for the best marketing campaign. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17264210
So a marketing campaign that is only seen by people who've already bought the product they're selling? It really was the "(Fail to) Perform Award for Best Marketing Campaign" wasn't it.
There's a Southampton official (Jordan Sibley) upset Pompey tonight: Southampton guy tweeted on his personal account: "Pompey win Family Club of the Year. I chuckled too. If the irony isn't enough, they have 'bought' two tables at tonight's awards. #saintsfc" Pompey retweeted it on their official twitter, and then tweeted: "Amazingly that last message I retweeted was from a club official - not top of the class table #pompey"
I forgot about the Hartlepool campaign, that was clever they did actually deserve to win. For those who didn't hear about it, they set up a system where the more season tickets that were bought, the cheaper they got. It worked, their season ticket sales increased from 1,400 to 5,900. When they collected the award last night, they said it was the first trophy the club had ever won.
Genius idea (for the fans), cant see it catching on though, well not in the top two legaues anyway. Actually it may work in Wigan!
