Poor Dirk: has he got some dreadful Accelerated Ageing Syndrome? Or do you have Stevie G cryogenically frozen when he's out injured?

Well said Fore, KD has got us (generally) playing better than we have for a couple of seaons. Signings are admittedly letting him down and Carroll just didn't look interested todayso must surely be due a feckin good kick up the arse. Bang him with the reserves to see what true grit is about.

I honestly don't see what Downing is doing wrong...He gets the ball in the box time and again the problem is Carroll who is normally on the edge of the 18 yard box whinging at the opposition, his team mates or the ref. Hendo could do a lot more by coming in on the back post - This is all stuff that will/should be learnt as they develop. However, I just can't see Carroll ever settling in to the team!

Not so much a rant as an observation

My head is not in the sand. But I am not going to go ranting about either players or the manager when I can see great improvement over the season in the way we play. Am I happy about losing 3 matches - certainly not.

Well, according to two pundits on Football Focus - OK, what do they know - we're a mess and no closer to winning the title than we were under Hodgson and Benitez.

Right now I agree with him. 4th has gone. It went weeks' ago. I don't blame Kenny directly but I do blame the players.

Yeah, we won a cup. Just. Be honest we were lucky to win that, too.

You see an improvement with the way we play but I'm sorry where are the goals?!

I really don't give a damn about the pundits. OK so 4th has gone but just look at the quality of the football that we have played in most of our games: think about where we could have been if half of our woodwork strikes had gone in or we had taken our penalties better.

This squad is very far from being the finished article but its a major step forward from where we were at the end of Rafa's reign or the whole of Hodgson's.

This season we haven't had a fully fit Gerrard available to us, we've lost Lucas for the rest of the season and Suarez has lost form since his layoff - yet we can still play Arsenal off the park!

Now, we've got 2 vital games coming up and we need to have the whole squad as positive as possible.

I don't know where the goals are going to come from but we can't do anything about it until the end of the season.

To many expected to much in Kenny's first full season back, the majority of us said before the season started that we'd love to finish 4th and a cup would be a bonus.

Ok so it panned out that we could easily have attained top 4th but due to 'piss poor' finishing in many games this season we now wont,we've got the 'bonus' of a cup and maybe we'll end up with two.

But the buck stops with Kenny where results are concerned and the players performances overall this season are heaping pressure on him,he needs to kick the arses of some of the players and not just the hacks in his press conferences, hes turning into a bit a Ranieri type of tinkerman and sometimes backed underperforming players to justify his purchase of them.
If its not broke dont fix it Kenny.

Im disappointed like the rest of you but i'll back Kenny until it becomes impossible to do so,i think he could have bought better last summer with a lot of the money he spent in the previous january window and we could have got by with Suarez and a. n. other until the summer(our goals for column shows this clearly).

But once a red always a red through the good times and bad.

Hopefully we'll add the FA Cup to the League Cup.

    <ok>

I couldnt give a **** about our style of play if we're seventh in the table and look well on to slip down further. Its becoming ****ing embarrassing that after so much spent we are well on to finish lower than last season. Would rather play ugly as **** and win than play a few pretty triangles (excluding today's dross which was unusual) and hit everything but the goal.

Saturday the 21st of January 2012.

We faced Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok. Bolton were in the relegation zone and hadn't been playing well. In that game, Bolton outplayed us and fully deserved the three points.

    A bit like today.

The three games after that were massive. City in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg, United in the F.A Cup & Wolves away in the Premier League.

We drew with City 2-2 at Anfield. That got us through to the Carling Cup final.

We then got a last-minute goal to beat United in the F.A Cup.

We then produced a good performance to beat Wolves 3-0 away from home.

Our next three games are Everton at home in the derby, Stoke in the F.A Cup at Anfield & Q.P.R away in the league. We responded the last time we had a result and performance like this.

    It needs to happen again.

True enough. People have always said Arsenal played some of the best football in the league for the last 7 years, pretty passes, moves and scoring team goals. But whats that won them in the last 7years, **** all.
Manure had a season scrapping 1-0's, won them the bloody title.

Results will always be more important than performance, unless you're Barca and can combine both. Today we combined neither.

It would seem you are confusing unoriginal with consistent.

    Oh, and correct of course.

    You're correct; no pace.

As for confusion? No; I'm right, you're not very original, consistently unoriginal. Tisk; it's your endearing quality.

That is not our usual attitude though, I think it was the quality of the signings and the style of football that sealed Roy's fate.

Of course people will argue about Kenny's signings and the amount spent but in comparison to Konch and Poulsen Kennys are better. However don't want to start that.

IMO he deserves time I really hope he gets it right and to be fair if he feels he is not, he will move aside.

I don't think Liverpool supporters will have to call for the Kings head, if after being given time he doesn't get it right he'll step down, he's always put the club before anything or anyone.
