Outstanding today. Definitely my MOTM. Does the simple things excellently, looks comfortable on the ball, passing getting better. He's only 22, looks like he's got a level head. How far do you see this lad going?

I believe this lad is better than henderson,he holds the ball up very well and has got a good engine on him he just needs to start producing more killer balls

Just shows the strength in depth we have that Colback came into the side and produced such a performance and credit has to go to Brucie for improving the squad last summer.

As for how far will the lad go well only time will tell but he is a good little player for us and hopefully he puts in a similar performance next week at Everton.

    Must win next week

Colback was excellent today, and I feel Bridge also deserves a mention in dispatches for the way he stepped up to the mark.

He is getting there, just needs to add some goals and running on past the forwards to his game, he reminds me a lot of Henderson: he does a lot of running, does not give the ball away cheaply and makes a lot of good short passes. He just needs and attacking threat and he would be the complete player, his goal the other week shows he is capable of it. Colback, Catts, Meyler and Gardner are all young enough to be our midfield for the next 10 years!!!!

It was going to take a game for us to adjust to life without Sess and Catts, but we did it. Colback did a fantastic job and Gardner didnt do too badly though he looked a bit lost with not being able to get forward as much. Reckon against Everton they will play even better together with 90mins practice together.

Bridge was very good as well imo.

I reckon Wickham up front next game, with a 5 man midfield of Maclean, Colback, Vaughan, Gardner and Larsson.

Things are looking bright for the future. Thought Turner was great today too. Young British based squad playing well as a team, what more could you ask for!

Roll on next week, Jimmy Mac to score the winner, 2-1 Sunderland, Ha'way!

I have to say I thought Colback was overrated by a lot of people under Bruce but he has improved under MON, thought he was excellent today. O'Neill will have a tough job picking our midfield, no one deserves to be dropped, thought Vaughan looked fantastic when he came on.

Hard to be critical of any one today, players did their job, MON set it up right and mage the right substitutions at the right time and the crowd sang their hearts out.

Its nice for a change to lose two of our best players and still be able to replace them with player of equal quality

I think Bridge still needs a couple of games to get fully match fir but he is getting there.

I was singing this lads praises 2 years ago kidda. I don't need convincing how good I think he is.

John O'Shea, Gardener or Colback could have the motm award for me.

Colback was imense today. Easily man of the match for me, this kid is gona have a big future. If he was a young lad at one of the so called big 4, I think the whole country would be excited by his potential!

Have to agree with most points. Although i thought Gardner was MOTM . cutback started the first T mins of the second half struggling to put a foot on the ball. then ue got told of it and played a lovely pass to Seb and he played excellent from there.

Bridge just "fit" if you know what i mean. looked like he'd been laying there all season.

Very happy man singing in a pub in Tow Law

Been a big fan of the lad for sometime, I honestly dont believe Henderson could do the job he did today in the middle of the park, and interesting to compare him too with Liverpools best homegrown talent - Spearing - I know who I'd rather have. And he is getting better all the time with more EPL experience.

Great thing for me is the quality in depth in midfield; Larrson, McClean, Gardner, Coback, Cattermole, Vaughan, Meyler, Sess, Rico if needed there. All could come in and you could perm any four and they will play our system well. Vaughan for me is real quality too when given the chance.

Thought centre backs were great today too, O'Shea so disappointing early season at fullback now looks top class in the middle of defence and Turner is looking far better alongside him.

Also thought Bendtner held the ball up pretty well, and he got ont the rebound for the goal - Good enough for me.

Of course because Liverpool lost it was deemed a poor game by MOTD, for me another solid team performance and we never looked liked loosing it.

Martin O'Neill was forced to ring the changes for Sunderland's home date with Liverpool and was delighted to pick up three hard-earned points.

The Black Cats edged a scrappy encounter at the Stadium of Light, with a solitary strike from Nicklas Bendtner enough to see them over the line.

The hosts just about deserved the spoils after offering the greater threat in the final third and their manager was pleased with the level of performance put in by his side.

O'Neill was forced to cope without club captain Lee Cattermole, influential playmaker Stephane Sessegnon and experienced midfielder Kieran Richardson, but saw those drafted in provide ample cover.

"That in itself was probably the highlight for me," O'Neill told Sky Sports.

"We had to make these changes, significant changes to the team, considering the players had played so well for us and will be missing for a few weeks. The whole commitment of the team again was splendid."

    Encouragement

It is not the first time O'Neill has been forced to shuffle his pack this season and he admits to being impressed by how easily his squad can be tweaked to deal with any given situation.

    Commitment pleases O’Neill
"Back at the start of the year, the calendar year, we played Manchester City and I think we had nine injuries that particular day, so we had to shuffle the pack and change players," he added.

"We ended up winning that game. I know that won't happen every week, but it did give us plenty of encouragement to keep going.

"Players here are prepared to play out of position, which is very encouraging."

    ................................................................................

They all done well.....a fairly solid squad..
