was it sensible to export young ainsworth to burton, others have commented he is a real match changer, with at least 9 teams in the hunt for 3 promo places, even though town are well placed we cannot expect cheltenham and others to continue to implode with gulls gills and oxon as our rivals. the rotties are more or less up, that leaves 2 promo places. town have a game in hand but with 2 points from 6,the shrews must make big waves on satuday and perhaps ainsworth might have come in handy in the run in. personally i am not interested in the playoffs, and who are towns headless chickens so daintily mentioned by kasule-er floreat salopia
I searched the Portvale v Burton commentary on BBC and it only found one result for 'Ainsworth' and that was in the team line-up. Perhaps he might have had a good game, but time will tell. Who knows the full reasoning for all of this that has happened? Only Ainsworth and Turner will know!
He can't change the game if he's not on the pitch and he hasn't been there for a while but we've kept on picking up points. Ainsworth's a great player on his day, comfortably one of the best in the league. But, for whatever reason, he hasn't been in the team and the team has continued to do well. It makes more sense for him to play regularly at Burton and hopefully come back to us sharp and in form. Got to trust the manager on this one.
I agree, but would be pissed off at 'Father figure' GT now were I Lionel. He's not had a sniff since the Newport game on 5th november. Dropped and frozen out because of some shoddy conference team's useless pitch. Pah
You have to go with GT on this one - he has always supported Ainsworth. For whatever reason Ainsworth is not doing it at the moment and can not be impressing in training. I suspect he will be back after the month is up with a few games under his belt and more ready to play some part in the final run-in.
It just seems a little petulant of Turner if that's the case - surely letting him go in January for a decent fee would have been the best course of action?

At least 9?? I would say no more that 6. Realistically, Oxford, Gillingham and Crewe are too far behind to reach the top 3. Need to get that winning feeling back again thou.
i wish i could share your view belvidereshrew. a few weeks ago the gulls were out of it now look at them. let us hope the gas put the gulls brake on. no i am still going with these 9 until implosion
I sort of agree. A lot does depend upon how Crawley perform in their games in hand though; 2 losses and the top 8 is bunched up a little more. However, a gap of 7 points represents a lot of work for Oxford to go in order to really break through. It's unlikely all the top 6 will implode, although it's still too early to say. Personally, however, I wouldn't right off anyone outside of the top 8. Crewe down in 9th are 14 points off (potentially more depending on what happens with all the extra fixtures) and too far away - but Gillingham have a 5 point lead on them and have won 4 on the bounce. If Crawley carry on their form, we lose a couple at home and Southend/Cheltenham continue to be inconsistent, then Gillingham could catch up.
