Apologies if I've missed this on another vthread but was Chaplow rested or crocked? Secondly I think I read that Fox could be a long term injury? Any news gratefully received.
If fox is out for the rest of the season then that's a serious blow to promotion chances ... Huge player for us.
If Fox is out for the season recall Dickson - give him a chance. He deserves a chance and Harding has not done well enough.
Harding is deserving of a run to show what he can do, its been a stop start year for him, in any case we can't recall Dickson as its a loan till the end of the season
There is no need to consider recalling Dickson until we are certain that fox is out for rest of season. If he is then i think it will be a massive loss.
Sadly i fear we are stuck with Harding for the run in. He was outstanding in L1 but has not made the step up convincingly in my opinion. I have said before that the ball spends more time out of play on the LH side when he plays and is defensively slack. On a positive note Lee was outstanding last night.
I thought fox just had a little knock i heard from somewhere. And Chaplow was poor against Leeds, it's only fair to give Guly a chance. On another note, I hope people will give De Ridder some slack after last night, great impact. The back four were very poor last night, richardson in particular.
Maybe Luke Shaw could be given a chance? Probably too early, though. Harding is woeful. I shudder at the thought of him in the Premier League.
Fox was taken off with a groin strain against Leeds. Depends how bad it is but surely can't be out for the rest of the season. If so we can wave bye to automatic promotion as Harding is woeful.
Even putting the Fox-Harding debate to one side for a minute, not having Fox instantly reduces our threat from set-pieces. I really think too many people take his dead-ball delivery for granted (just as so many non-Saints fans seem to care little for Lambert's penalty-taking abilities - "anyone can take a penalty"). Last night was an obvious example. Between them, the deliveries from Harding, Richardson and Lallana (and whoever else took any) were generally shocking. Lambert, Hooiveld and Fonte all give us immense prescence in the penalty box, and yet only once did they really manage to get on the end of a set-piece. We may or may not lose a better quality of left-back, that is open to debate (albeit not in my mind), but surely there can be arguement that we lose a decent taker of set-pieces, and hence a valuable goal threat.
play chaplow left back, he has been fantastic in all the other positions he has palyed in. or really screw with the opposition and play 3 at the back with 3 upfront and outscore the other team
Off-topic, but someone really ought to put together a highlight reel of Liverpool's adventures from the spot, just for such occasions.
