Re topgun. Who knows? We could respond well or we could struggle. It's a hard run of games but then after that things look easier. Arsenal have had a great run but things can quickly change as we all know. I wouldn't start getting too smug yet.
If we play that well against Chelsea and Everton, could easily get 4 points from those 2 games. A draw at Chelsea is better for us than them.
I thought there were a lot of positives, We turned up which was a change from last week. Livermore, Lennon and Benny all had pretty good games. Luck wasn't on our side, Saha's goal would have probably stood 7 or 8 times out of 10. I missed their second goal because my stream went down but their third goal was pure class. However, their first goal came totally against the run of play and we should have been a couple up by then. Ferdinand probably had his best game of the season, without him it would have been a different score line. DeGea was solid which doesn't happen every week. I think someone else said that both Ade and Saha were suffering from first touch-itus which was an understatement to say the least. Possibly Defoe should have been given his chance on about 65 minutes rather than 80 but were were playing well so why change it. Nobody gave up unlike last week so our goal difference didn't take too much of a hit. It gets easier from now on, don't forget we conceeded 8 goals in the first two matches and then went on a great run. The team showed that they had character today which bides well for the future.
Yeah that was me about the first touch - it didn't really improve in the second half. Defoe should've been brought on straight as it went 3-0 IMO.
i think it is unfair to throw a striker on with such a big handicap....he should have started second half at 1 down if you ask me..i feel sorry for him...ive always questioned HR know how with tactics and today hasnt changed that opinion....there seems to always be an excuse...i expect nothing less than a trouncing for Stevenage...lets see how much fire they got in their bellies or are the excuses of..its a cup game...lower league teams are up for it etc come up...all this 'it was a good performance to take forward' is a load of cack...we hammered newcastle 5 nil and that didnt seem to elevate us in the following matches..starting with the 0-0 at mighty Stevenage ..a league one team up for it,bumpy pitch etc etc.
I have only just got in so haven't seen if its been mentioned, but I wanted to say I understand exactly why our goal was rules out for handball, and it certainly stands as one of the less controversial decisions that have gone against us in recent seasons against ManU. Having said that: (1) If a ManU striker had done the same thing at Old Trafford would the goal have been given? (2) If a ManU defender had stopped the ball going in the net with the ball hitting chest and onto the arm in the exact same manner, would a pen have been given?
youll never know vimhawk...we cant make excuses always when we come a cropper.....we even manage to blame the bobbly pitch when drawing with the likes of Stevenage..it is always something other than the team.....fuksake they get more rights than my woman, kids and religion thrown into one...when it comes to loyalty.....so someone somwhere is not being honest
Without even reading I can imagine lots of bemoaning the disallowed goal...wouldn't have been an issue but for Saha's poor finish.
