Little off topic but watched Italy play the other day ( can't even remember who they were playing ) & Borini came off the bench for the last third or so of the game . He was hands down the best player on the pitch from the moment he stepped on it . I think they lost but the quality Borini was showing shows a lot of maturity growth .
Although we are not safe yet - we're not far off being so. Sigurdsson is the type of player we need to try and keep here if we are to survive next season. We must remember we've been here once before and after a great 1st season in the old league 1, we didn't invest anything and went all the way down. He's worth the money as he's proved and I don't think we'll get Bodde back
Swansea told to cough up for Sigurdsson..Swansea will have to pay £6million to sign loan star Gylfi Sigurdsson on a permanent basis. And even if boss Brendan Rodgers finds the money, he faces competition from European heavyweights Inter Milan and Juventus, plus Aston Villa and Spain's Malaga. Sigurdsson’s German club Hoffenheim have told Swansea officials they are in no mood to strike a cut-price deal for the Icelandic midfielder. He has two years of his existing deal with the Bundesliga outfit still to run following a £6.5m switch from Reading, but is keen on a return to the Premier League.Sigurdsson has been a smash hit since his move on loan, and Rogers is desperate to make the move a permanent one. New Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel has told Sigurdsson - who fell out with former boss Holger Stanislawski and was told he was no longer welcome at the club - will have a clean slate next season. from that rag mirror football !
It will be between Hamburg & us for Sig ..... I'm hoping between him not wanting anything to do with German teams anymore & his enjoyable stay with the team so far , he will sign with us . As for worries about how his wages will impact the team structure , welcome to the problems of the " Bigs " . If we stay up , everyone should get a bit of a raise anywho !!
It may be a lot tougher to stay in the prem next season, but £6m for siggy would be money well spent imo even with wages the benefit of staying in the prem for a few more years warrants a bit of strategic splashing of the cash, and im sure hj & Rogers will work wonders without over stretching the budget !
From the moment Sig threaded that ball through to that brilliant finish by Graham against Arsenal Wenger , my whole thought process changed about Sig & what it's going to take to stay . We don't change very much in the player end of things , no matter the League it seems , but once in a while something obvious pokes their head into the mix & in this case it's Sig . A win win when it comes to player & team needs .
£6m for Gylfi, leaves about 6m to play with for other signings, 1 or 2 season long loans and job done!! what we may have to consider is replacing a member of our first team squad that gets sold for big money! also to raise funds in terms of wages we need to slightly lighten the pay roll, maybe dobbie, tremmel, moreira and lita to move on,maybe get £2m for that lot so its closer to £4m for gylfi which sounds well affordable, i dont think he is on mega wages as the german clubs tend to pay within their means unlike their premiership rivals. Aston villa is a basket case of a club so i dont see why we cant compete for him,we have rodgers which is a big factor and if we end up getting relegated then im sure he wont have a problem finding a new club, so an easy move for the boy and us if you ask me
Actually, we broke our wage structure to pay Leroy Lita 28k/week. The maximum below that is 25k/week. I reckon people like Ashley Williams, Monk, Rangel, etc. would be on that. If you think Siggy's wages are 20-25k/week at Hoffenheim, I'd be happy to pay it and I reckon it's worth the shot at £6-7m to secure him.
if lita is on that amount of wedge then time to get rid IMO, he aint worth 28k a week to anybody, i like him him but he cant trap a bag of cement
He's a different type of player, and to be fair has done what's asked of him when he's come on. Technically not as gifted as others though.
Juventus reportedly keeping tabs on Hoffenheim midfielder Sigurdsson The Icelandic could be on the move in the summer transfer window as the Serie A giants are closely monitoring his situation with the player currently on loan at Swansea The Turin giants are looking to add some fresh blood to their squad ahead of the 2012-13 campaign, and they reportedly see the 22-year-old as a valuable addition to their roster. Sigurdsson joined Hoffenheim from Reading in the summer of 2010, and quickly became an important first-team member at the Bundesliga side. However, the attacking midfielder lost his starting berth this term, and was therefore farmed out on loan to Swansea in the winter transfer window. He has since returned to top form and Juventus are closely monitoring the midfielder's situation at Hoffenheim. An offer in the region of €7 million could be enough to lure Sigurdsson away from the Sinsheim side.
