and a remaining game, as I say. We'd be twiddling our thumbs at home on April 13th (or whatever date it it), whilst West Ham and Reading etc all are playing.

Alternatively, if our game gets played, we'd obviously lose 1 point plsu whatever we picked up in that one.

Took me a while to figure out what you meant, but I can see what you mean now.

this thread makes me chuckle. especially when i see how they have won some games this season, eve against us they were clinging on.

Saints should have won games v cardiff, leicester away, pompey away and didnt so we are due a bit of luck, what goes around comes around.

Last time I looked you get three points for a win, however you do it. Yesterday's game showed we have resilience and passion. We didn't play well in the sense of possession and attack, but we know we can play a lot better than that so I'm not worried. Very important points as WHU won as well, just like to get some distance from third.

Ever heard of the statement... now that's taking things too far... ? I think you may have crept over that line with yours. Winning ugly is better than losing. Winning beautifully is better still, with Morello cherries on top. ;)

I find it strange a WHU fan comparing our away games yesterday. Leeds are a side that are on the up (due to managerial change) and Cardiff are sliding and had a cup final with extra time last week.

Did we compare your boring struggle of a 0-0 to Palace the week before when we struggled to a 3-0 win at Watford?

The fact is we have taken 4 points off West Ham this season and are currently top of the league. West Ham are a good side with the ability to change things about due to the sheer strength in depth of the squad. You really should be walking this league and yet a club that were in league one last season are above you.

I've been reading some of the foul abuse some of the West Ham fans have been giving our players on twitter these past few weeks- absolute morons. There are a lot of decent hammers out there, but concentrate on your own fortunes. If you finish top, we'll congratulate you and move on. If you don't I will be the first to laugh.

Yes, West Ham were very impressive: strong, compact and unyielding; they are definitely full of players who could play in the Premiership. I think you will go up and it will be between ourselves and Reading for the other auto, which would be a great achievement for either side, neither of whom were fancied for promotion, under two shrewd managers.

Finally, I do think it was a good time to play Cardiff, but take nothing away from the deserved West Ham win. I think we will see Brum and Cardiff drift away, too many games for them this season with their size squad.

    Ha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahahah

    Peed myself reading that.

Three passes in a row don't make a footballing manual fella.

But fair play to you, I must have missed the announcement from the Football League where they gave you an extra point for that. My chart shows we won 3 pts each this weekend.

Quite amusing reading and listening to the post-match report of Spurs against ManU. It seems that Spurs were all over ManU for much of the match, yet ManU ran out 3-1 winners. Neither Fergie or Twitcher could quite comprehend it. But there you go. One of those extremely rare occasions where the Home side pummel the Away side, and yet still lose. I wonder who'll get the credit..?

Sorry if this thread seemed provocative.

I suppose it was in a way as I was trying to get a debate going and it seems I succeeded as it got quite a few replies quickly.

You were fortunate to win on Saturday but some of you have rightly pointed out that we have had our fair share of luck on the road this season aswell (Brighton away sticks in the memory as a game we won despite clearly being second best on the day).

I have said on the Leeds Saints match thread that your performance v Leeds was the kind of gritty performance needed sometimes to finish in the automatic spots.

I was in a bouyant mood after watching one of our best away performances of the season yesterday and I thought a thread about our respective away wins might be interesting and I think it has been.

Us and yourselves both have a pair of winnable looking home games over the next week so I hope we can both pull clear of reading a little.

Its gonna be an interesting 2 months. Good luck for the rest of the season. May the best team win.

Let's be honest, we'd both take second spot right now. Just have to both win our games against Reading and continue in our season form and we'll get promoted automatically. Then hopefully you can sack Allardyce and get back to playing football.

    Ha Ha!

The football under Allardyce isn't always pretty but it gets the job done thats for certain.

Yesterday though, I thought we had some good spells with good short passing. We certainly didn't hoof it upfield for 90 minutes.

I cant think of too many managers who would give any newly promoted team a better chance of premiership survival than Allardyce so I would be quite happy for him to stick around for a further season or 2.

Hopefully by then Di Canio will be ready to come in and inject some flare in our side.

I think Di Canio has got an idea in his head to take Swindon all the way. He'll probably do it too, if the Swindon board can match his ambition.
