The last blonde bombshell I remember us having up front was the irredemeable Frank Large. Like the Pog, Frank was a surprise signing - coming from Leicester in a deal that saw Alan Clarke going the other way - and scored 2 goals. Unfortunately for Frank, and us, it took him all season.

Naturally I'm not putting the Pog in the same league as Frank - nobody should have been in the same league as Frank - but the thought brought back some nostalgic moments. Don't know whether to laugh or cry but here is a clip from a 1968 game, showing Frank missing his inevitable barrow load of chances. Look out also for a young Malcolm McDonald -

    Nice find C58!

I was there. Frank was a nice fella, despite being a big useless lump.
Good to see Stan Brown saving a definite goal and Les Barrett (a hero of mine, just like Tosh) doing his stuff on both feet - cutting in for a decent shot, as well as getting to the line for a cross - like Duffer can, but with a heavy ball.

I had forgotten about Supermac's long throw - he took over from Jimmy Langley who could hit the penalty spot with a throw in.

The only name I don't recognise is Pentecost - who was he?

He was an okay right back - played mostly after George Cohen had to retire, and when we were in the old Division 3; between 69 and 71.

Speaking to Russia's Sports Daily, Pogrebnyak said: "I can't complain, things have started very well.

"The move was very difficult. I had to think, first because I was relocating my family, and also because I was offered a contract only for six months. Now, of course, I have no regrets.

"I wanted to sign a long-term contract. The club wanted to see how I would adapt in the Premier League, because the German and English championships are very different. The management wanted to play safe.

"I think I can win something with Fulham. We have a chance to qualify for the Europa League, and in England there are many cups."
