Seems they only have 2 weeks left according to todays tabloids.
Means Millwall will lose 3 points <grr> But West Ham would lose 6 <laugh> and Cardiff would drop out of the play-off places <laugh>

    Pay up Pompey
    Pompey pay up.

Whose fed up with all of these tiny clubs going under and fleecing the tax payer of £millions?

Leeds would lose 4 points & drop a place.

TC the good news for Millwall is that only two teams would get relegated.

I cant see them NOT finishing the season. It would be chaos and some deal will be done behind closed doors to "find" the necessry cash to finish the games.

West Ham would chip in a bit....<whistle>

I'm with you on this Penners. It would be the start of a major problem affecting a whole raft of clubs in Portsmouth went out of business. Who next? Whichever way you look at it & I won't be thanked for saying it, but it does go to show what Papa Smurf has put in place since taking over in order to ensure we don't go back to those dark days of a few years ago. This is especially true given that I believe our debts were decidedly bigger than Pompeys.

That said, we would end up gaining 2 points on the Hammers without playing a game. I can see it now, Portsmouth's debacle results in the White's auto promotion.

It shouldnt have ****ing got to this though,

we tried signing David Norris but couldnt afford his 20k per week wage demands so backed down, portsmouth signed him funny tbh that Ken Bates has actually done something good!!

£20k pw probably wouldn't break the bank on its own. But add in all the other bits & note the financial structures now in place that weren't there somewhile ago meaning we couldn't afford to keep Lennon when he was a junior... We should look at the Pompey situation & count our blessings.

Agreed Bucks, we easily turnover enough to be able to sustain a wage ceiling of £20k pw without anywhere near going into debt.

Lets face it anyone watching the Carling Cup Final there was not a noticeable difference bet ween the 2 clubs except in the wages! Its about time all clubs became more prudent and refused to pay players these stupid amounts of money and on this Leeds leads the way

Ithink you'll find that quite a lot of clubs (including us) pay far less in wages to their players - think your highest paid is getting almost double what ours is <ok>

Just found out that Portsmouth are paying Tal Ben Haim £39k per week - absolutely disgusting and they deserve to be in the position they are in - this should have been sorted out after their last Administration!!

    Bucks

We can afford to pay 20k a week yes, but not for a player thats only worth 10k a week, the fact of the matter is Portsmouth are paying the players double what they should be. Norris worth 10k per week max(on 20k), Kitson worth 10k per week max (on 20k), ben haim 15k per week (on 36k) I mean they will probably still be paying Kanu what he was on at Arsenal FFS

Coventry's is for failing to submit Accounts in time - reason being they cannot substantiate their budget as their owner is refusing to fund them anymore <ok>

totally agree. What I am saying is the size of Portsmouth FC coupled with Championship football = trouble when they dish out contracts like that. A club our size (fan base, sponsorships, TV rights plus ticket prices <grr> ) should be able to compete with Pompey for players, the fact we cant isnt just do to with Bates being as tight as a ducks arsehole, there cheating everyone else by signing these players, racking up points & destroying there own club!

Anyway, heres a link to the table if Portsmouth went bust

Portsmouth have paid Kanu £45k per week for the last 5 season - That's £11.7M in which tme he has started only 35 games for them. That's £335k per game <yikes>
