Theres a good article on the offish with SWP calling for a 'never say die attitude' on Saturday. But the thing I liked is he specifically addresses his own performances and how he needs to influence games more over the 90 mins rather than in little flashes here and there. He's come in for a lot of stick on this board (some of it justified, a lot of it not) and I thought it was refreshing that he is honest about his contribution so far and how he believes there is much more to come from him. Anyway it may of interest or it may not. Cheers.

(sorry I'm bit of a div with computers:emoticon-0111-blush but my attemp at a link is below).

It worked Frome! I read that too, he seems an honest, hard working player and a likeable bloke too. Wrote on another thread that if he gets lucky and does score one soon I feel he could get a hatfull.

Sean strikes me as an honest, down to earth guy. It hasn't worked for him this season, and I don't think it's for lack of trying.

Decent guidance by MH will help, imo. I don't see him as more than as a sub until then

He, as everyone of our players deserve 100% backing from us, the fans. Slagging them off every minute doesn't do us any good imo.

Totally agree. Let's not forget he has regularly been asked to play out of position and is actually quite strong defensively. Something he doesn't always get credit for. You don't play at the clubs and level he has without a certain amount if quality. As the team gels hope we see the best of him.

Agree with all of the above, definitley a genuine guy and hasnt deserved the bashing he's taken on here, but for a bit of luck at key times he'd be flying by now. Who knows maybe a drop to the bench followed by a super-sub performance might do the trick.

So here's a subject I hope the majority of us can agree on. SWP has put in some very disappointing performances but he clearly carries a threat when played in the right position, has never stopped trying and always looks like he is giving 100% even when things are not going well.

Nice guy, lots of effort but a shocking footballer, how the hell did he once get sold for £21m? Just think what he will be like in a couple of years time when he loses his pace.

SWP outstanding player IMO and hate the bile written about him on here by the fickle. He has had some bad luck and poor form yet for me his good games outweigh the bad ones .
I am waiting to ram a few on this board when he comes good and he will when the team settles naturally

Just because he knows he's sh.it doesn't make it any easier to watch him fail to take on his man, fail to get a decent cross in, fail to deliver a good pass, fail to score, etc............

That's a bit harsh. His confidence took a bashing from several years in the wilderness at Stamford Bridge then failing to get into Mancini's all stars at Man City. All his faults stem from his lack of self-belief. I'm not surprised frankly that his performances dipped even lower after his perfectly good (nay, sublime) goal against WBA was ruled out because of that tosser on the line. As we are generally in the mood to rally round for the fight ahead, give the guy a break. If he still hasn't done the business by the end of the season, we can always relegate him to our reserves for next season!!

Swp hasn't set the world alight and if people on here want to express that then they are free to do so. Only bankers get a pat on the back for doing crap at their job! Why should we lay of these players just because we are fans? If someone has been poor for most of the season then dam right they should be told, you do in many other walks of life. we all could pretend he's been excellent and support him so he doesn't get upset bless him. what a load of crock!

To be fair, he looks like the type who would willingly run repeatedly into a brick wall if asked to and never ask why. Would have to be Hadrian's Wall though, otherwise he might miss it.

(it's a joke DT, don't put me on the list! The law of averages says we will see something spectacular from this lad soon)

He has been woeful this season. Lost the ball so many times and always seems to go sideways or round in circles.

No doubt has the quality, but has shown it once in his 'goal' v West Brom which was wrongly disallowed.

A real let down this season, but its pleasing to see him saying that he needs to step up. Now is not the time to talk the talk, but walk the walk as they say.

The "SWP" is to run at the defender, cut inside, stop and then circle on the spot until 3 or 4 players go to him and he loses it.

Watch the game with that in mind and count how many times he does that compared to the times he gets to the byline to get a cross in.

When was the last time he beat a man and put in a good cross, isnt that what wingers are supposed to do?
