Oddy, that was sad news, read it earlier. Isn't Dave Jones a bit dodgy? Perfect for your chairman *cough*

I'm not sure Paul Daniels could do what MM is expecting in 13 matches - don't understand the timing at all. Automatic promotion is pretty much gone but we'd have to be really crap to not make the play-offs, so maybe he wants someone to come in a make them difficult to beat for the rest of the season. Might not be pretty to watch ..........

RV, I was a little confused, I knew he used a puppet but I never knew that about him.

    Oh you mean Dave Jones.

We conceded a bad goal when it was 1-0 (offside according to most) then collapsed. Really interesting to see how we respond at the weekend against Tranmere, need the win big time.

Promsing game tonight for the youth against a very experienced Holland team, cant really pick fault in any of the players apart from in experience costing them the draw.

All in all plenty of positives to take away from the game, what is for sure is that Stuart Pearce is not the man to take England to the Euros.

Sad to see The Monkees Davy Jones passed away today.

Apparently he worked briefly in racing and I remember him riding over here as an amateur in the 70s or 80s.

When I was a nipper growing up in Lambourn I was friendly with a lad whose father trained in the village for a few years - his name was Foster and I'm sure he said Jones worked for him. But if anyone does actually know who Jones worked for I'd like to know.

I remember being at Plumpton in 2001 and he rode the winner of the charity race after racing - always knew he was an apprentice jockey as a kid but not sure who for.

Just found out more on Google Grizzly. He was indeed with Foster (Basil Foster, to be precise) but before the trainer moved to Lambourn. If you know the village, Foster trained in Baydon Road - without much success it has to be said. But at least he had that claim to fame! I'm delighted my memory was not playing tricks on me for once.
