I noticed on SSN today, Leeds had brought in Danny Webber on loan - ok no big thing, but there were also articles yesterday that they were trying to bring Matt Mills (leicester) and Paul Robinson (bolton) on loan too! Thoughts?
Who's he on loan from? I'd assumed he was still without a club after leaving our blue friends. Hopefully he starts though. Leeds proved on the opening day what happens when you play someone who hasn't kicked a ball for ages (assuming he hasn't) and whose best days are behind them.
According to SSN, on loan from Portsmouth which I was quite surprised about, but according to Wikipedia he was released last season
Webber has been without a club since leaving Pompey according to the bbc website. I also hope they get Robinson as we would have a field day running him ragged!
I'm not sure how much a field day Chaplow would have against Robinson, especially as he is still working towards full fitness, but for sure he'd be someone I'd be wanting us to target. Would seriously consider including De Ridder in the squad if Robinson looks likely to start at LB.
Chaplow, De Ridder & Puncheon would all give him a field day, however I agree that as the fastest, De Ridder would be a good option to have certainly
Luckily there are not many good players available at this stage, and certainly not in Bates price range. Shelvey is one of the only players being spoken about moving to a Championship club that I would be concerned about (to Boro) but Mowbray has dismissed the move anyway.
I'd have a laugh if Danny Webber and Michael Brown scored against you. Mainly because they're knackered old men.
I think we all tried to tell you guys (I assume you're at Leeds fan) that at the start of the season. For some strange reason you guys kept on writing about how he'd be the missing piece of the jigsaw, and seemed to put our comments down to the fact that we had it in for him because he's ex-Pompey. But whilst that was partly the case, it was mainly because he's rubbish and past it and, at the time, hadn't kicked a ball for yonks. I think his subsequent performance (or performances?) proved us right.
Actually I rate Brown's ability and he's probably my second favourite Leeds player (I actually created a 'Michael Brown is f*cking brilliant' thread if you don't believe me!) The main issue is that he can't play 90 minutes every game due to his age/fitness. Not the missing piece of the jigsaw, but still a decent signing for what cash we had. I shouldn't really have made a joke at his expense, but hey, I'm a levity whore like that.
Brown's ability? Everything I've heard suggests his ability extends as far as giving players a kick, arguing with the ref and pissing people off.
