No point talking about our best players this season. It's pointless. The team and the individuals within have under-performed. Very simply, we have a better team and squad than at least 5-6 other teams in this league. We are where we are because almost all of our players are not playing to their potential. Fact!!!!

No I had forgotten Ale! For consistency game in game out he has been our best, and a real shame he got that injury. Barton 2nd best for consistent performance - about 5 or 6 every game for me. Others of course play at higher levels, but don't do it regularly enough, or in Bus's case just once so far this season!

Spot on Nuts. We have a collective problem to solve. But your point about our overall quality should give us hope.

The others play at higher levels but at worse are a 5 or 6 yet somehow a person who only gets 5 and 6s is better?

These are the fan ratings from LFW which puts him about 11th or 12th, hes lucky to be starting every week. Ive no doubt Cisse and Diakite will overtake his ratings in time.

    1 Paddy Kenny 6.51
    2 Samba Diakite 3.18
    3 Clint Hill 6.02
    4 Shaun Derry 5.54
    5 Fitz Hall 5.52
    6 Danny Gabbidon 6.25
    8 Kieron Dyer 2.83
    9 DJ Campbell 5.25
    10 Jay Bothroyd 5.37
    11 Alejandro Faurlin 6.84
    12 Jamie Mackie 5.51
    13 Armand Traore 6.64
    14 Akos Buzsaky 5.62
    15 Bruno Perone 5.26
    16 Matthew Connolly 5.82
    17 Joey Barton 5.86
    18 Luke Young 6.62
    Bradley Orr 5.04
    19 Patrick Agyemang 4.07
    20 Rob Hulse 4.87
    21 Tommy Smith 5.55
    22 Heidar Helguson 6.90
    23 Djibril Cisse 4.76
    24 Radek Cerny 7.43
    25 Hogan Ephraim 5.33
    26 Brian Murphy 3.11
    33 Federico Macheda 4.46
    29 Michael Doughty 3.00
    30 Troy Hewitt 3.22
    32 Shaun Wright-Phillips 6.00
    34 Taye Taiwo 4.90
    35 Anton Ferdinand 6.71
    36 Bruno Andrade 4.93
    40 Michael Harryman 5.29
    42 Nedum Onuoha 5.69
    Jason Puncheon 4.66
    52 Bobby Zamora 5.09
    7 Adel Taarabt 6.54

And for the last match, Barton was one of the worst on the pitch, only Diakite and SWP were worse.

If a player like Adel, Young or Buz gets an 8 one week, but a 3 in the next 3 games, their average over 4 games is 4,25. So a player getting a 5 or 6 week in, week out, is going to average 5,5 and in terms of reliabilty, consistently, and enabling the Manager to know pretty well what he is going to get from you, is a valuable player. If we had 11 of these types we may not be winning medals, but we have too many players who managers must have a hard time knowing what they are going to get from them next game.

Them getting an 8 one week means theyve done something great which probably means weve won, Barton getting a 5 or 6 every week means hes done nothing. Being poor week in week out doesnt make you valuable. If we hadd 11 Bartons, wed be relegated already.

Id take a player who is good every week over a more streaky player but Barton isnt good, ad in the fact that hes a total self obsessed tosser and the signing is the worst in recent memory.

Isn't it written into Barton's contract that he is captain ? To be fair to him he is slightly better than his potential replacements although this is ignoring any negative effect he may or may not have on team morale.

With Barton playing striker, CB, and in Goal yeh we'd be relegated already no doubt! Basically you appear to me to judge his perfornance on the pitch by how big a tosser you think he is!

and the fact that he is the captain and doesnt do that job properly, and the fact that he thinks hes good enough for England whereas hes not good enough for the PL, and the fact that he regularly has a go at other players, and the fact that we havent scored from any of his set pieces, and the fact that he has totally divided the dressing room, and the fact that he is the highest paid player but is performing nowhere near his wage packet.

Barton's pay packet and how big a tosser he is, is irrelevant when discussing a players performances on the pitch compared to his competitors. Fact is Barton outperforms every other CM we got, hence he's first on the teamsheet every week. On the captaincy, he's better than Taraabt last year imo.

I'll tell you what said a lot to me about Barton. Soon after he and the others joined last year, he took exception to Betty's Ugg Boots and cut them up.

Now, you can say, hell, that's just high spirits and banter, but to me it was more than that. It was Barton imposing his dominance as alpha male. Betty took it in good part, but if it had been the other way around, how do you think Joey would have reacted...?

It wasn't the act of a captain - it was the act of a member of the team that needed to be kept in check BY a captain

No doubt all you pro-Joey's out there will tell me I haven't got a sense of humour...

Im convinced they are someone who is scitzo, they always have the same opinion and Im sure he logs in again to agree with himself! :D

So, Bartons runs a lot and is a better captain than Taarabt. Hardly a glowing recommendation.
Theres no way hes a better captain than Taarabt, Taarabt offered little positive or negative when he was captain, Barton offers nothing positive and loads of negative as anyone can see when hes laying into players all game and not a in a good way like Derry would.

Yes Bob I think Barton is a good player, but, I thought he was better than what he's shown unfortunately.

Col, not sure I have a fever but the weather is abnormal to say the least, very warm to be this time of the year!

Goldie I think you make a very sound point there. It has nothing to do with any lack of humour. This is something that bothers me too. Every time I see him interviewed on QPR player I end up wondering did he mean that or was he being sarcastic? Very odd person to understand, to be honest I can't tell if he's sincere or not. This is what annoys me the most about him.
Anyway, for me Barton is a QPR player and I don't get any satisfaction slating him. I'll back him to the hilt as all I can judge him by is his on field actions. No one of us knows what goes on behind the scenes, all it is are speculations. I trust both NW and MH to make the right judgement re team selection and I'll stick to it until we either stay up or get relegated.

Not me Col! It's cold realism from a cold country!

I agree with Norway he is probably is first on MH's team sheet every week, and probably was first or second on Neil's too with Ale.

Bob! Why don't you go ask your new boss why!

I wrote on here back in January that MH should get rid of Barton. I now think he should do so this summer. But for now he's the best CM we got, so he plays, and we should all be backing him and all the other players to the hilt - they need all the support we can give them.
