Are they still allowed to take YouTube videos down after this?

Yeah the Premier League are terrible for removing content. FOM are pretty bad for removing TV coverage, but they don't remove track side recording as far as I'm aware.

Youtube is frightened of any litigation, if someone complains 'copyright infringement' why would they risk being sued? It just isn't worth it to them to leave it up, so the video is deleted regardless of whether it does or not, simply because it's cheaper.
I'm not sure what the rules are regarding recorded sports, but the ruling implies you can't copyright live sports.

No doubt a US company will throw billions at a president to change that sooner or later

A guy I know made a very lucrative business from providing pubs throughout the country with this type of satellite feed. The last 5 or so years have been spent fighting sky with various court cases.

It is definitely a business model that has its parallels with F1, notably that its a business model based on exploiting loopholes in the law.

Why not just buy Sky? So much easier. Sky's coverage of sport is world class so why not just subscribe to the real thing rather than some crappy rip off.

Not everyone wants to contribute to lining the Murdochs' greedy pockets! And why should you, if there are plenty of live streams and other satellite systems showing the same thing!!

My brother ran a golf club a few years back and the monthly fees from Sky were huge. The price varies depending on location, but range from £500 to a little over £2,200 per month. At the time when my brother consulted me over the legality of using subscriptions sourced from outside the UK my response was that while it appeared legal it was completely untried in court. The EU have some pretty clear laws regarding competition and product pricing within the eurozone and as a part of Europe we benefit from them. I still advised him however to go with Sky as in the long run he would probably pay out a lot more win legal fees trying to get the case proven in court. He doesn't run the place anymore, but I'm sure a lot of venues will now be looking into foreign set top boxes.

Sky's coverage will be largely identical, excepting commentators, to the BBC's or any foreign provider because it's an FOM feed. Sky will have zero input to what is shown during the race, qualifying and free practice sessions. What they tart it up with before and after may well be suited to your tastes but for the core product you'd have to be a fool to pay a king's ransom to Sky for something you can get free elsewhere.

indeed, why should I supply the money to fund war mongering politicians, propaganda and private and illegal intelligence services?

I find it depressing that by all accounts the 50p rag launched on Sunday 'sold' 3.5m copies.

Why is our population so full of thickos who let this old rogue line his pockets by promotion of the worst journalism?

Dumbing done? They are dumb already.

It's bizarre that a sizeable proportion of the British want to live in a corrupt malignant state. They want it so much that they're prepared to bankroll the kind of behaviour The Sun is engaged in, supporting its alleged network of corrupt public officials (including the police, military, prisons and health service, apparently) who feed their addiction to salacious gossip.

Sorry if this is not very F1. If this particular discussion continues then perhaps we should move it to The Pits.

Totally and utterly agree Miggins, what the hell is wrong with the British people, there seem's to be at least 3.5 million complete and utter idiots, just how does one justify buying the Sun on any day of the week !!

The lady police chief, I heard on the news last night seems as though she is on the case and may well root out the dirty digger and his cohorts, lets hope the old bastard gets locked up and rots in jail.

Apropos of that, Alec Baldwin (I'm a 30 Rock fan) tweeted these gems a little earlier:
