4-2 now. Dire - absolutely dire today. I would love to know what the mentality of the Spurs players was before the game - cockiness? If so, it's certainly ruined us today.
This was the whole reason why I don't boast or WUM....absolutely shocking performance today. We were second best all over the park. To do this against Arsenal just makes it all the more frustrating. I hope we can react from this but that was depressing.
We were **** and got what we deserved - a hiding. Redknapp made a lot of bad decisions today and worryingly half our team saved their worst performance of the season for today.
The worst I've seen all season and that includes the first 2 games. Clueless lacking courage and second best to every ball; When we smash and grabbed the first two goals and Arsenal had to come forward why didn't we bring Lennon on, go 4-5-1 and stretch them? Every substitution was wrong and the bench hardly leapt into the breach with ideas did it? Why did we leave Parker on when it was odds on he was going to be booked again? Shoddy all round.
I agree. Totally tactically inept from start to finish. We played far too deep, conceded way too much territory and possession. The Goons looked like they wanted it more. And yes, Lennon should have started on the other wing to keep them stretched and give service to the front two. You could see it was all going tits up even when we were 2-0 up. I said at the time that it was only a matter of time before we conceded. Conceding 5 against the Goons is just a disgraceful embarrassment!
Parker keeps making his rash challenges, so he will suffer for that. Maybe Livermore will do a more disciplined job v Utd, should he play. Re the game as a whole, Arsenal started favourites, so it was hardly surprising that they won, although the manner was surprising.
Parker makes rash challenges because the likes of Bale seem to think it's ok to let attackers waltz past them. That and the fact that Ledley and Kaboul seem to NEED the protection he affords them, made yesterdays farce all too predictable.
I do like Harry and he has done wonders for us but yesterday just showed yet again that he hasn't got the tactical nous for the big games
Fair comments Chirpy, but sometimes Parker doesn't need to make those challenges. It will be interesting to see how we fare without him.
At least we have cover in the DM role - Sandro played yesterday and should be fit by next week, also got Livermore. Either of those 2 can play the same role without too much tinkering.
Sandro's been called up to the Brazil squad again, annoyingly. Let's hope that he comes through their game against Bosnia unscathed tomorrow. It's in Switzerland, rather strangely, so he shouldn't suffer too much from travelling, at least. He's still young enough to qualify for their Olympic squad (I think) without counting as an overage player, so I'd expect him to feature in that this summer, assuming he's fit. Might actually be good for him, as he's not played much for us this season, unfortunately.
