Betty Blue in French with subtitles. Absolute classic, and very sexy.
Shenandoah. Classic western with James Stewart.
The Big Country. Classic western with Gregory Peck.
The Life of Brian. No explanation necessary, I'm sure.
The Bank Job. Jason Statham at his best (also has Keeley Hawes <ok>
And finally, just to blow any lingering street-cred I might have left, Stardust. Robert de Niro in drag, anybody?

Meowth, I liked Laputa - Castle in the Sky a lot, very imaginative. There was a whole series of Studio Ghibli films on film4 recently so I watched them all again. I'm a sucker for animation, from Manga to Southpark. Akira is a classic that I never get tired of.

I have a massive collection of Animé. Akira was one the first that I saw. I have most of the Ghiblis, Lupin III is good too for it's comedy value as is the Urusei Yatsura series which just shows how wacky the Japanese can really be.

    Please observe.

A lot of great films named above, [including Star Trek, Fran ;) ] and many of them are favourites of mine too, so I'll just mention a few that haven't been written down yet.

    The Searchers
    Open Range
    Dr Strangelove
    Catch 22
    Night of the Demon

and loads more. Too many to mention.
I don't tend to go to the Cinema, though I do consider myself quite an enthusiastic film viewer. Next week I think I'll have to go to see The Woman In Black, as I saw the theatre version at the Fortune, in London back in 1990, and it scared the bejeezus out of me, in the shocked, jumpy way. If the film is half as good, it'll be excellent. First time I'll have seen Daniel Radcliffe on film too.

Cheers Meowth, great clip. Wacky isn't a word I'd normally use, but it's perfect in that case. The Japanese just look at the world differently to us, which shows in their animation. My wife doesn't understand what I see in it, I've given up trying to explain now.

Must admit, I liked The Prestige too. It was quirky, well made, looked good, and had a few twists at the end, several of which were obvious, but one or two that weren't. Plus, anything that shows the name of Nicola [another one] Tesla as a genius of the 20th century, has to be good.

I just watched Scott Pilgrim vs the World for the first time, what an utterly bizarre film! Strangely entertaining, though.
