With the possibility of Scotland going their own way, should we look to ditch the awful tune that is God Save The Queen and replace it with something more contemporary? How about the The Kinks' Village Green Preservation Society?
How about 6 popes gone but the Queen lives on The great thing about this tune is it get revised every few years. Keep it fresh
My friend died from a marijuana overdose last year, just spreading the news. He was invited by the "cool kids" to hang out at some kids house whose liberal parents had left for the weekend. My friend, always a moral and thoughtful individual, wanted to attend because it was one of those massive house parties that he'd never been to. Well, as was later recalled by some of his friends at the party, he was pressured into smoking marijuana. He ended up smoking the entire pack of marijuana cigarettes. Not long after he went into convulsions and started foaming at the mouth. The people at the party held back calling 999 for almost 10 minutes. When the paramedics finally arrived they could do nothing to save him. The autopsy revealed he had 3 times the lethal dosage of THC in his blood. But I'm sure everyone here will deny my story and the fact that my friend died after smoking that illegal narcotic.
I like it very much also I Vow To Thee My Country. Land of Hope and Glory is a bit pompous but a rousing tune. Or we could have Oi! Oi! Oi! by the Cockney Rejects.
Land of hope and Glory is for ****s and the Macho man (RIP) Jerusalem is a belter of a tune. The crowd singing it at Lords on the first day of test match is quite something.
What about this one? I can just hear this over tha PA at Wembley.
Theme tune from the Archers ... ala Billy Connolly
It is though. I have been to Internationals between england and Ireland and national cup finals where GSTQ has been played and never felt compelled to respect it. I have attended events where people are expected to toast the queen.....ain't gonna happen. Jerusalem may be a Christian hymn, so not particularly appealing to other denominations, but it is symbolic of england and englishness.....who could possibly begrudge that?
Yes, told you before I have no nationality and appreciate all facets of life. Proddy supporting Tim!!
